Red Ranger 1 Posted September 2 Report Posted September 2 Well, it falls to Leah to put Alf in his place then, pointing out that his principles apparently didn't stop him giving Zane a hard time in the first place, although I think Marilyn's comment about how she told Zane Summer Bay was a friendly and welcoming place pricked his conscience as well. David's utterly inept "date" with Amelia was amusing: He tries to cover it by inviting a load of other people as well, but doesn't know enough people to make it work, and ultimately no-one's fooled and they all end up just leaving him to handle it on his own. At least he actually managed to give Amelia an answer this time instead of just stunned silence! Levi was in it but it didn't really extend beyond him still being a bit grumpy. Quote
pembie Posted September 3 Report Posted September 3 It says alot when I enjoy a developing love story when l normally think what a load of nonsense David is very much a hard coconut to crack really he managed to relax with Amelia but then had a really awkward beer with Justin it’s a good job there’s alot to look at in that garden because there’s not much chatting going on this Zane story is pants to say the least but I enjoy taking the pee out of it Quote
H&Alover Posted September 3 Report Posted September 3 True, David's bbq did start off very awkward, but strangely enough it went better when everyone, well OK Jo, Lacey and Justin, left. He made her laugh which is a BIG plus, when he sent her that text asking her to come over when she was sitting next to him. He doesn't have to rush into anything though. Good to see the outside of the Beach house again. Marilyn isn't into forgiving Leah any time soon, rejecting her offer to take her to the hospital when she found out about Zane's injury and asking Alf to take her. He did look humbled when she was telling Zane what a good place the bay could be. If I remember correctly he, Alf, gave Theo a hard time when he first arrived and was up to his antics with Ryder. Zane must have found something safe about the bay that he hadn't left, Mali was very discreet not telling John too much about Zane just that he was staying t the Caravan Park. Levi has, to me, has a right to be grumpy, he can't do what he has been trained to do, even when Mali told him he is lucky to be alive. It must have been so frustrating/embarrassing when he couldn't even do a suture on Zane's wound. As I've said many times doctors are the worse patients as they have none. Quote
Red Ranger 1 Posted September 3 Report Posted September 3 Marilyn continues to be a lot harder on Leah than she is on Alf, which I don't think is at all fair but I guess is typical of the blind spot that Alf and Marilyn seem to have about each other's faults. We're presumably meant to be worried that Alf turning up at the police station means he's going to report Zane, but I don't think he'd do that to Marilyn, even if he might to Zane. Mali did a good job of getting Zane to the hospital, although it took Marilyn to keep him there. David managed to do better with Amelia once he actually had to talk to her, and as he said, it's a good thing Justin and his daughters all bailed or he'd probably still be playing with barbecue tongs. And he managed to do a good job of explaining his changed feelings as well. Lacey and Jo dancing on the outskirts, wanting him to be happy but not wanting to know the details, was kind of sweet, especially Lacey desperately trying to stay busy at the surf club. I can understand Levi's frustration but there are probably plenty of other patients worried about their future and desperate for operations too. Quote
H&Alover Posted September 4 Report Posted September 4 Alf does look on Marilyn as a daughter and I guess she looks on him as a dad so would overlook each others faults. Maz looked on Leah as a friend so may have been disappointed as she felt she had let down by her. We were misled by Alf turning up at Yabbie Creek but no he was just confirming in writing that Zane was staying at the caravan park. Would the fact he's now staying in the house itself make a difference? Lacey had been 'banned' at being at home by Jo. I may have mentioned it before, but I'm glad Levi apologised to Amelia about his behaviour towards her, I think she would understand how he feels being a doctor herself. Even Jo reprimanded him wanting his op moving forward. In the 'new' episode John found out about who Zane was. Seemed Zane wasn't the first prison inmate Marilyn had been writing to over the years. Yes, despite Alf talking in ambiguous terms because we weren't going to find out why he was at the police station until next episode, he was just there to confirm the paperwork with Zane, although as he says, he's clearly only doing it to make Marilyn happy, although at least he's stopped sniping at Zane behind her back. I guess it was inevitable that John would react the way he did. I can understand him being put out at not getting a mention in the letters, but let's be honest, they haven't been close for years now. Anyway, Leah's managed to convince both Marilyn and Zane to come back to the Diner so all's good for now. Abigail's guess that Eden was pregnant was a bit random but would have been typical dramatically after her insistence she didn't want children and Levi and Mackenzie's troubles. Abby looked ever so slightly disappointed at the news, but it looks like it could be something more serious with Eden's later collapse. Meanwhile, Beau demonstrates the old soap trope that only the innocent don't get bail... Quote
pembie Posted September 4 Report Posted September 4 It’s good to see Alf and John on the same page for once when it comes to Zane I’m still not really sure what Marilyn and Zane’s chats were about if he doesn’t know but ok Edens collapsed but isn’t pregnant It’s good though she collapsed as in a warning to why it happened otherwise she probably wouldn’t have gone to see the doctor Quote
