So Alf is willing to give Richie a fair go straight off, but wasn’t with Zane?

I wish characters didn’t act differently based on the storyline. As much as I’d like to hope he’d learnt from Zane, it seems a bit too extreme a turnaround.

Probably because Zane had been writing to Marilyn though and Zane was living with them Richie also hasn’t been to prison

May being pedantic but Justin is David's friend so down to him to tell David Richie is staying with him and Leah.  Echo's of Abby and her getting the same advice to tell Eden and  Cash Richie was back, even the same words "There is never  a good time".  Justin is an adult and an older one than Abby is so should know better.  Once again it came down to Richie having to tell someone something that should have been down to someone else. David got the wrong end of the stick thinking Justin's reaction to him saying Leah & Justin were lucky having their place to themselves being that Theo had been living there which prompted him to go round there.

I thought Justin knew Richie was going for the Bronze Medallion position which was why he was dressed in his suit.  I was surprised that Alf was behind Richie seeing what he had done and was effectively bullying  John in to taking him on. On that Alf knows John too well  how easily John can be swayed by offers of  a coffee and cake. 😁  Tad awks when David and Amelia walked into Salt while John was interviewing Richie who made a swift exit.

Tane is finding it difficult being away from Archie as it's upsetting Archie so much when Daddy had to leave as of course he wouldn't understand seeing as he is only just over a year old. John put both his feet in his mouth with his response.

i don't really see it as any sort of turnaround. I think most people would be less willing to trust a criminal who broke into someone's house and smashed their head in with a baseball bat, than a police officer who accidentally shot a colleague in a friendly fire incident while being threatened by a criminal. There was no malice or criminal intent in Richie's actions, so as Alf said, as long as no-one trusts him with a gun there's no problem. Characters, like real people, act differently based on the situation.

I also don't buy the logic that it's somehow okay for Leah to lie to David but not Justin. What, David isn't Leah's friend? You could argue it's worse given that she was the one who invited Richie to move in. Still my sympathy for David is limited by what an utterly joyless individual he can be at times. Any decent person would feel at least a tiny bit of guilt at the way Richie felt the need to run out of Salt like a scared cat but not David. He makes a snide remark to John about Richie being trusted as a lifesaver, but then claims it's nothing to do with him when John actually asks his opinion. I don't believe for a second that he'd have been fine with Richie living with Leah and Justin if they'd told him straight out. Justin gets points for assuring Richie that David's reaction doesn't change him living there.

I guess I should feel sorry for Tane seeing Archie upset like that but he's another one that's too self-centred for me to really care.

Very strange ending with Amelia getting uncomfortable being alone in David's house.

Amelia & Jo both reaching for the water bottle was an odd moment, I suppose it was to show things are still a little awkward, but it was odd that Jo didn’t offer to pour Amelia some after pouring her own, or that Amelia didn’t reach for it afterwards.

Leah and Justin I can tolerate but they should have told David the truth sooner in my personal opinion.

I do feel for Richie but regardless he still shot David so he has to accept that it will take time to settle back into the Bay. I am looking forward to seeing his scenes going forward and hopefully a change in his wardrobe haha!

Felt for Amelia as regardless it will be hard for her. I do love her scenes with the Langham’s though especially hers and David’s.

I had the same thought as you did Red, about how Alf was wiling to give Richie another chance, but was wary about Zane. He battered a nine year old child with a baseball bat which he took into the house.  He's going to have to work hard to be accepted back into the bay.  I I can  see him being a very eager Gold Medallion competitor.

Never mind the debate about whether Leah could have told David about Richie living with her and Justin or even that Abby should have told Eden she was back with Richie but at least David didn't make the same mistake  and told Jo and Lacey right  away that Richie was living with Justin and Leah.  Amelia wisely kept her own counsel seeing how it was a family matter.

A tad embarrassing Jo and Amelia running into  each other the day after the night before. 😳 Amelia looked totally flustered. It had only been decided that she would be staying over after Jo &  Lacey had gone to bed.

We did see David's lighter side when he and Amelia ran into  Alf and he didn't know what 'title' for want of a better word was   to introduce her to him.  Umm 'my' Amelia. 😃  What should he call her. girlfriend, partner, companion which does to me make her sound like someone who is an elderly person's carer or as she suggested lover?

We finally met Sonny's talked about younger brother Dylan.  I noticed Sonny  didn't tell Dylan that he and Dana had split, just  said she was away with her sister, Remi did give him a look though.  Seems Dylan is getting fed up with being the Golden Boy image which even Sonny referred to  so he's done a runner. I guess it must be exhausting having to live up  to your parent's expectations of you all the time.  Nowt  to do with owt, but that flat was a mess.

To me at least there was a spark between Lacey and Dylan, but we'll have to wait and see.

I did feel for Tane's pupils doing their boot camp exercises, seemed he was taking his frustration out in them, but Mali solved it by getting him to go out for the night.  Mali it seemed had an even better night😉 which made Lacey 🙄.

Reversing a bit Sonny looked very smart and so different in his suit which he had worn to Beau's court case.  From what little he told Mali and Remi  Beau is going down for the drugs and dealing. He, wisely, that word again, taking his leave, him saying  Tane would really make his suffer. The other charges of what he did to Harper would be a separate case I'm  thinking.

I’m probably going to jinx us, but with Cash dealing with Eden and David focused on his relationship with Amelia, I’m quite enjoying the respite from the Police drama. The Zane story was more in keeping with the show’s original premise, troubled souls needing a new home too so it’s been a little while now.

Even the hospital scenes have been limited.

I'm glad that, despite chickening out earlier in the week, Leah took her share of the responsibility in keeping Richie staying with them from David instead of blaming Justin. And I'm glad Justin, despite his early reservations, remains committed to helping Richie out. David pointedly didn't tell Lacey what was going on, just clamming up and forcing Jo to do it (it's not clear who told her). So Lacey has someone else to be mad at but hopefully she'll have calmed down by the time she bumps into Leah and Justin again. Amelia again does exactly what Lacey gets criticised for, ordering David's friends to stay away from him without giving much thought as to what he wants, and gets away with it because she does it in a cold matter-of-fact manner instead of yelling at them. It is nice that, while she's not been as vocal as Lacey, Jo is clearly still adjusting to having another woman around the place, rather than them instantly being okay with each other.

Tane and Mali's night out was lucky for Mali then. He did have a one night stand early in the year with a client he went on a date with. I'd rather not go back to Tane as a womaniser but since the show abruptly dropped him and Jo as a couple, there's not much else for him.

Sonny's brother Dylan finally shows up but god forbid it be as simple as him being successful, he has to be tortured and secretive. Weren't their parents meant to be hippies or something? But okay, see how it works out.

Oops got that wrong I thought it was David who told Jo about Richie staying with Leah and Justin, wouldn't have been Amelia's place to do it.  Not being ageist but Amelia is older so more able to keep calm  about it.

It was slightly TMI David explaining to Jo about  Amelia staying over, 😳 all round, David and Amelia must have been pretty quite😉 as Lacey didn't get disturbed and she sleeps upstairs.

There isn't anything to stop Tane seeing other women, but if it got serious she would have to accept he's be going to see Archie every weekend or so. Jo was happy to do that but that was when he lived in the bay with Harper.  If they had still been together she  would be able to go with him.

Dylan does have  a sense of humour at least, with him saying about  de-trashing the flat. 🤣

I think Sonny and Dylan's parents were well off but the dad lost all his money at some time.   Remi got roped in by Sonny  to being mediator between them  with Sonny laying down ground rules what Remi wasn't to tell  Dylan, his accident, being in a wheelchair, breaking up with Dana and his drug problem.  That would explain why we never saw Sonny's mum and dad visit  him in ND's.

I'm supposing mum and dad came down pretty heavy on Dylan  after Sonny left so made sure he behaved himself, got good grades, do they call them  that in Aus?, made sure he went to Uni, got  a good, well paid job.

There was a spark between Dylan and Lacey but she bolted just when something may have happened.  We know it's nothing to do with him so I hope Sonny fills him in.

I know it's boring but Doctors do  make the worst patients, even allowing for Levi being in  a lot of pain. Quick mention Eden had been informed. Amelia was in a tight spot, checking how he was doing, but also worried what would happen to her when Levi is fit enough to go back to ED, as of course there is only ever one doctor in ED who everyone sees.

I’m loving Amelia’s growing relationship with Lacey, I really want Levi to suggest a way for them both to stay at the hospital.

I have to say, I’m amazed at how easily I’ve accepted the Langhams in the Beach House without thinking of Irene whenever it’s onscreen. Maybe it’s just having it onscreen, plus the exterior scenes now, it’s great to have it more central again.
