Serenity6063 Posted August 10 Report Posted August 10 I’m enjoying the David/Amelia storyline. I’ve always liked David as a character and I feel Amelia will be the change for him. Quote
James Martin Posted August 10 Report Posted August 10 I tell you what I'm facepalming at and it's the Beau/Harper storyline. Harper is a social worker, yet she's ignored every red flag. Quote
H&Alover Posted August 11 Report Posted August 11 Harper is a SW so would have come across women and men who have been in relationships where they have been controlled but it's different when it's personal, same as it was with her mum. It'd be very tentative steps for David to get involved with any woman after him losing Kristina, he'd know her for a very long time which we heard when he made that VIS about the effect Wendell killing his wife had on him. He was very defensive when Jo and Lacey kept asking if there was anything 'going on' which there isn't - yet. Both Jo and Lacey got the wrong idea, it wasn't Amelia he was expecting when he asked them to let him have the to house to himself it was Jared. Has it been Amelia taking him to all his appointments with t Jared? Maybe it's because Jo is the eldest she is more accepting of their dad moving on. Just take it slowly David, if Amelia is that interested she'll wait until you're ready. Amelia was quite right shutting down Jo's demands about not signing David off, he's no longer her patient so out of her control. On a lighter note there's the Girls Night out Abby has planned. Let's hope none of them have their drinks spiked. Nowt to do with ought but I loved Mac's dress. Quote
Red Ranger 1 Posted August 11 Report Posted August 11 There's a lot of light-heartedness in David's scenes (for someone who denied this was a romantic comedy, he spent a lot of time acting like that was exactly what it was, complete with comic embarrassment) but there's a serious undertone as well. Neither David nor Lacey seem to have even considered that he might end up with someone else, and I'm not sure if Jo did either until she overheard that conversation and realised what it sounded like. I can sympathise with Lacey here: She wants David to be happy but she's only ever known him with her mother and isn't comfortable with the idea of something else. I'd probably feel the same way. It's hard to tell how Jo feels about it, since she seemed more interested in proving it was true and then didn't seem to know what to do afterwards. In the midst of all this we have Amelia who, willingness to get involved with someone she met as a patient aside, hasn't done anything wrong but is stuck in the middle of a minefield. (At least there's only a dead wife to deal with this time, not a living one like Mackenzie had!) I did enjoy the stuff with Abigail's enthusiasm dragging Mackenzie and Eden along in her wake and them eventually getting into the spirit of things. Is it me or did Lacey move tables between scenes..? Quote
H&Alover Posted August 12 Report Posted August 12 David was finding it hard to accept he could find someone new. Lacey may have been joking when she told Leah she'd accept David finding someone new in about 20 years. Leah had gone through the same thing, kind of, when she married Dan after losing Vinnie, but VJ was only a baby when Vinnie went to prison so didn't know him. I guess VJ looked on Dan as a dad. A dead wife/husband can be more problematic than an ex wife/husband when there are children involved. I'm not wanting to go down that old route but I think Kristina would be happy he found love again. But we are all getting ahead of ourselves nothing HAS happened yet. I didn't spot Lacey moving tables, she was certainly hugging that cup of coffee, did Leah top her up? but I thought David's appearance changed during his talk with Jared. One minute he was looking scruffy and then he looked more clean shaven. More light relief in the 'new' episode with Dana and Alf with her finally succumbing to go fishing with him, it turned out better than she thought it would. Quote
Medea Fleecestealer Posted August 12 Report Posted August 12 Don't you love how characters in H&A just drop their work and vanish on trips. Mac, Abby and Eden are the main people running Salt yet they're ALL going to go off on a girls' thing leaving the restaurant in the hands of who exactly? Same with Alf just buggering off to see his wife leaving the bait shop and caravan park to unknowns to run while he's away. And Tane, Mali, Cash and Levi too. Okay Levi is on leave, but the other 3 arent'. Makes you wonder how businesses manage to survive in Summer Bay sometimes. Quote
Serenity6063 Posted August 12 Report Posted August 12 I think Lacey was definitely joking when she said that, I think Leah made sense when telling Lacey that David can’t just stay still. Quote
Red Ranger 1 Posted August 12 Report Posted August 12 More evidence that Amelia doesn't know David that well if she thinks that he doesn't shout at people very often! Jared made the point that David's vows included the phrase "Till death do us part", but didn't point out that it's not just Kristina who's going to have the life where they grow old together, David isn't either. So what's he going to do instead? He doesn't know and he's not really prepared to think about it. Leah gave Lacey some food for thought but her comment about VJ finding it hard when she dated again left me going "Er, which time?" If she means after Vinnie, she was dating again before he was old enough to have an opinion, and she never really stopped. Marilyn continues to exist purely to hang around being nosey. Dana does her best to get out of a fishing trip with Alf but ends up quite enjoying it, despite the lack of actual fishing. I'm glad she made the point that it's not that nice to compliment her while also insulting John. It's crossed my mind that we didn't hear who won the cake from the Diner: I guess that's not important for the storyline. Neither, it seems, were the couple who won John's celebrancy package, except for him to echo Alf's words a bit and give Dana a nudge in what might not be the right direction... Quote
c120701 Posted August 12 Report Posted August 12 How did Beau tell from the location app that Harper was in the Diner vs at home? Is his doing a bit more than just checking the app? Quote
H&Alover Posted August 13 Report Posted August 13 To be fair David hasn't shouted at Amelia yet. Plus she hasn't seen him in work mode. He did snap at Jared though, but he made a good point about "till death do us part". Maybe David is thinking he'd be 'cheating' on Kristina if he dated again. True Leah did date a few times after Vinnie died though I don't think she introduced them to VJ right away when he was younger, it was only when they got more serious which is what any responsible parent would do. It is when kids are older they can get stroppy about heir mum's/dad's new man/woman. Alf asked Dana to call him Alf, that's a real privilege. They did get on well, though she was relieved to know they wouldn't be using 's. he, without saying too much told her about him and Martha and the problems they had. Right timing Alf asking if she and Sonny would be moving onto the next stage, then John telling her the couple who won the celebrancy package had backed out so offered it to her. I must have been reading Dana wrong as I thought marriage wouldn't be for her. Though having said that, it was Harper who's backed out of two marriages. Going back to Alf's praise of Sonny who said he was a decent guy and he'd done so well by getting back on his feet - no pun intended - after his accident, but then he doesn't know what we know about Sonny. Not wanting to spoil it for those who haven't seen the 'new' episode but it was funny, Tane and Mali are staying well out of Cash and Levi's spat. I may be reading too much into it but I think Levi was wanting to prove himself after finding out he was a pity invite. More controlling behaviour by Beau, but cleverly done. Oh more surprises John got high praise from Alf, John couldn't believe what he was saying, waiting for the other shoe to drop I guess. 17 hours ago, c120701 said: How did Beau tell from the location app that Harper was in the Diner vs at home? Is his doing a bit more than just checking the app? If your phone is smart enough and Beau's would be you can tell exactly where the person you are tracking is. It showed him Harper wasn't where she said was going to be. Quote
