Harper: Why don't you take Archie to meet your family Tane?

Tane: That's a good idea.  I'll book flights and leave tomorrow.

Seems both of them (and the writers   🤪) have forgotten that Archie doesn't have a passport so isn't going to be able to leave the country.

Archie DOES have a passport, Tane and Harper were going to take him on their delayed honeymoon to Japan, three months after their non Wedding, but Harper changed her mind as she couldn't see herself with Tane and pretending she was OK with it. Tane went on his own.

I was wondering about Bella.

A big gesture from Harper  saying Tane could take Archie to meet his Maori relatives, Tane certainly didn't even hint at it and it proved she trusts Tane enough to bring him back. He was so happy about it and Archie is now of an age to know who is who. Harper will miss him, he's usually only gone overnight when stays at Tane's.  Dana did look on the bright side saying Harper could have ME time.  Sleep late, have  a drink or three.

There were some  cringe moments with Jo and Tane, though to give him his due, he didn't know what the hell she was talking about when she apologised about that phone call which he didn't get.

It was David's decision to take Richie with him.  From what we saw of the shooting, or what I got out of it, was David stepped in front of Richie just as he  pulled the trigger.  I'm guessing Cash as Senior Constable will be taking charge of the investigation, he'll have to put his personal feelings about Richie aside and conduct the investigation in  a professional way as David would have.    I'm guessing the Yabbie Creek cops don't have body cams.  Also I'm guessing the other cops at the scene will be interviewed about what they saw/heard.

Richie did try and stop Dale driving off Justin's van but had to leap out of the way to avoid getting run over. It was an either or decision with Richie following Dale.

Dale wasn't that bright parking such a distinctive van in full sight on/near the beach.

There were enough cops at the camp site to prevent Dale driving it off again.

True.  I'd forgotten they'd planned to go on a delayed honeymoon.  My bad.  Getting old.

So despite there being four officers present, the thieves managed to escape again, at least temporarily, partly because for the second time in two days, the police didn't think to box in the stolen van. Oh well, at least it got mentioned in passing that they'd got picked up, and them continuing to use a very distinctive getaway vehicle added to it. Still, it feels a bit of a cheat that we don't get to see it after all that build-up and they were clearly just a plot device to cause Richie to shoot David.

Talking of which, despite him being slightly less objectionable lately (while still being the king of mixed messages), I found it hard to muster up more than mild concern for David, although I am glad he's stable, so I guess there's that.Cash did a reasonable job of being professional if a bit distant when even the lady from the Crime Commission could see Richie's struggling. His visit to the hospital was never going to be well received.

In the midst of all that, easy to miss the fact that Amelia, the new doctor, is listed as a regular, as she makes a Bree-like debut treating a cop who's been shot. Welcome to Summer Bay.

Amelia had been mentioned in passing by Dana and she offered advice to Lacey after she got bitten by some sea creature but no new doctor can arrive without some drama occurring this time a cop AKA David being shot.  Did find Alf's  offering her  a 'job' as a life saver and his  comment about her being an  OK Shelia funny but Jo and Lacey rolled their eyes. Probably thinking  it was so old fashioned and sexist.

Richie is getting pretty slagged off on H&A's FB page, but he is so sorry about what he did, and feeling so guilty.  Better imo  than him just shrugging it off.  TPTB are dealing with is as they should by taking his badge and suspending him.   Richie's second visit to David go well either. Goodness knows why Justin was blaming himself for getting David shot? David was pretty lucky, the liver can take a lot of punishment and heal itself.  It was/has been mentioned Justin will be getting his van back.

There was only Richie and his oppo who saw Justin's van and before they had the chance to call for back up Dale jumped in and drove off nearly running over Richie in the process. Didn't go well for Abby defending her boyfriend, as she would,  to Lacey.  She was lashing out all over the place.    Who would have thought that when she first reunited with David and the way she was with him then she would feel like this  about him.

OK Cash is effectively in charge I guess but it didn't explain why he made the decision he did in last nights 'new' episode.🤔

Richie and the other one still had a car. All it needed was to park it in front of the van rather than conveniently out of the way and Dale isn't going anywhere quickly if at all.

I wonder if Lacey has enough self-awareness to realise she's treating Richie and Abigail the same way that Leah treated her when Theo died. It was very obvious when she was at the station demanding Richie be charged and while Abigail made her mistake of insisting on talking to someone who's not going to respond well, the slap seemed undeserved. I can't see David responding too well to her demanding he leave the police force either, and unlike Theo, he's actually there to tell her to stop being a cow to everyone if anyone actually asks his opinion.

Alf and Justin continue to be the link to the rest of the show getting filled in on everything. Abigail meant well but dragging Richie to the hospital was unlikely to end well, much like pleading his case to Lacey. She didn't have much luck getting Cash onside either, it seemed to be David's willingness to support Richie that convinced Cash to do the same. On a similar note, given that Jo was barely keeping Lacey contained, turning her loose was always going to go badly.

Even if Richie and his oppo had parked the patrol car in front of Justin's van, now we know what he's like, Dale could have just rammed it to get away, he was prepared to run Richie down, and then they would have been without a car for Richie to follow him.

Lacey isn't thinking clearly which is not surprising, Jo was more calmer.  Her knee herk reaction that she and Jo should  tell David to leave the police is again understandable but she did have a rethink when she spoke to Eden.  It must be like that for any family member who has someone in the police, that they would never know if when they went on duty if you'd see them again or if they could get hurt.  I'm guessing David would be offered counselling to help him get over the emotional shock but likely David being old school would refuse it.

We haven't seen Lacey talking to Leah so we don't know if Leah would maybe suggest Lacey is  treating Abby and Richie the same way she treated Lacey. If David had been awake when Richie paid his second visit I don't think he would have reacted the way he did.  As it was he woke up to see the guy who shot him standing in front of him.  The hospital would have removed David's Wedding ring when he had his MRI  but he did get it back curtesy of Amelia.  David has been very lucky, the liver is an remarkable organ  which if it hasn't been seriously  damaged can repair itself.   Will give the cops at the scene a 👏 as they did the right thing by keeping pressure on David's wound.

Now Cash is in the  city being Richie's support who is in charge at Yabble Creek?   Odd decision  seeing as Cash isn't Richie's biggest fan, let's hope he will be  objective enough to give the Commission  the facts and doesn't let his personal opinion of him get in the way.

Abby's defending Richie to Lacey didn't stop him saying they should break up.

In the 'new' episode we saw Harper looking a  bit lost now Archie is in NZ and missing him more than she thought she would.  Even when Tane has  him she has the chance of seeing  him.

I don't think ramming a car is the magic solution you think it is.Especially not from stationary.

Abigail's on the receiving end of Lacey's temper again then before deciding to give her space. While I'm glad to see Lacey felt sorry afterwards, it was Abby she should have been apologising to, not Eden. And that's Lacey's three episodes done, so I guess we won't see it until next week if at all. I've seen some criticism of Jo not seeming as upset as Lacey but someone has to be the strong one in these situations and I'd probably be the same.

I think Eden's assuming a lot in saying Abigail's got a thing for Remi. Given she set them up, as Abigail put it, she shouldn't be putting it on him anyway.

Harper missing Archie makes sense and it probably wouldn't have fallen as flat if she hadn't made such a big deal about being pleased to be without him. I'm surprised someone as baby obsessed as Marilyn went along with it.

That's Alf off again then.

Not wanting to labour it but the van is a big one and if he had revved it enough it could v caused damage, not to mention hurting Richie's oppo.  Anyways it didn't work out that was so pretty acedemic.

Not sure how many years there are between Jo and Lacey but Jo being the eldest would look at it differently.  When they were little all they would know, is dad going off to work at different times but as Jo got older she would click why their mum was a bit edgy until he got home.

It wasn't until Eden mentioned it to Remi that he started thinking Abby had a crush on him, both of them were soon put straight.  She said what I did, she looks on him a big brother type.  I did like Mali being there for Abby though.

Eden's assessment with that doc didn't go well it seemed.   This time round it was Abby giving advice to Eden to talk to Cash even if only by phone.

PS.  Noticed they have new credits including Amelia.

The other officer was halfway down the beach when Dale escaped. No reason to assume he'd be sat in the car.

I'm not sure what the age difference is between Jo and Lacey. Sometimes it feels like Jo's a lot older, but I always remember that story about them learning ballet at the same time, which made it seem like they were close in age.

Anyway, I think Eden has to shoulder a lot of the blame for Remi and Abigail's embarrassment, although to be fair, the way Abigail was talking to Mali did make it sound like she liked someone new. Hopefully this won't cause too many issues between them although now Remi's taken off and Abigail's used up her three episodes so... They did both manage to give Eden good advice before going, but I guess Cash is needed for tomorrow's episode so we don't see him here.

Meanwhile, Sonny finds his two worlds colliding with Harper and Beau meeting, and Beau and Mali for that matter. I'm not sure whether Beau was trying to tap Harper as a future customer. He's probably on a hiding to nothing if so.
