She was expecting a baby when she returned for the fridge episodes. They didn't really bring main characters back in the era when Nicolle left, so perhaps the thinking was "When you're gone, you're gone". Hindsight, of course, suggests it wasn't the cleverest of moves. We saw afterwards how they successfully brought Steven and Marilyn back into the main cast, and gave returning characters like Haydn and Damien good guest stories. Nicolle might also have wanted to leave Bobby far behind, in the hope that she might become a working actor. I could have sworn she and hubby James had at least one kid by the time she left. cymbaline Posted February 24 Report Posted February 24 https://www.nowtolove.com.au/entertainment/books/home-and-aways-bobby-my-perfect-wedding-29583/ This article is from 2015. At that time, her sons were reported as being 19 and 17. That would make the oldest son a 1995 or 1996 birth. I don't remember her being visibly pregnant while she was playing Bobby. Quote
Dan F Posted February 24 Report Posted February 24 Nicolle did mention in her exit interviews that they hadn't yet started a family, and pondered whether 'this could be the year'. She was heavily pregnant with her first child when filming the fridge episodes in 1995, hence why we only saw the top half of her. 2 Quote

I think in hindsight for the character and those connected to her it probably was the best thing. Bobby’s death informed Sam & Fisher for the rest of their time in the bay, and her absence was always felt in the reunions for Sally’s life events in a way that some of the others weren’t 1 Quote

It always felt like a pointless death and maybe that in itself made it resonate more. Edited February 24 by cymbaline Quote
adam436 Posted March 3 Report Posted March 3 Especially when you consider Greg left so soon after, they could have just left together. I guess two questions though: Would Bobby have ever left Summer Bay? And Would fans have been satisfied if she lived happily after with Greg? I know fans seem dividing on the pairing. Had Bobby lived, Nicolle would no doubt have been involved in some of the reunion episodes like Sally's wedding and non-wedding, episode 4000 and the 2002 reunion episodes. With links to Donald, she might have even returned for his big moments like his wedding to Marilyn, his exit episodes, Byron's birth and death and maybe even Seb's introduction. 1 Quote

Don probably would have ended living with or near her. She would have been brilliant in the Seb story and sheepishly admitting her "close call" with Alan to Seb while filling him in on what Alan was like. 2 Quote
cymbaline Posted May 7 Report Posted May 7 Even if Bobby had stuck around, I think Greg would still have been sitting in the ejector seat. He was little more than a placeholder most of the time, and that affair he had was the most exciting thing he had done in a long time. There was never any chemistry between the two actors, which didn't help. Bobby marrying the man who had the power to take Sam away from her was a very convenient way to tie everything up neatly. I would have rather seen Bobby hang around for another few years before deciding to move on. She still had potential to do something other than flip burgers and fall for mediocre men. One storyline that would've been very interesting for Bobby is Ailsa's death. How would she have handled that? Quote

I now have a vision of him sitting in a literally ejector seat. A lot of fans weren't too big on him, or at least weren't, retroactively Quote
