Bobby and Frank. I'm still not sure why these two are now viewed as an iconic couple from the early years of Home and Away. I never noticed any chemistry between the two actors, which would've papered over the cracks of what was going on between the two characters. Was it really a surprise when the marriage between them quickly fizzled out, and that Frank returned to Roo?

Shane and Angel. As standalone characters, both of them were perfectly fine. I enjoyed Shane and Damien's chalk and cheese friendship, and the scrapes they got into. Once Shane and Angel got together, it sucked the fun out of him. They quickly became a middle-aged couple even though they were only in their late teens. As for the wedding - Angel miraculously rising from her wheelchair feels sloppy and clichéd, and that walk up the aisle seems to take forever. Poor Shane's demise is a lame death when you think about it.

I agree about Shane and Angel to a degree once he put a ring on it. TBH I preferred Shane when he was a bit of a rebel and up to no good, even when romancing Angel, but I agree, when he finally wed Angel, he seemed to turn into an "old man".

I am guessing Shane & Angel's wedding (while the relationship itself grew at a sensible pace unlike Ben and Carly) was a case of the writers being put under pressure to win ratings over Echo Point

Yeah but Dieter had had enough and believed Shane was at the end of his shelf life. Plus his beef with Melissa was a factor.

And Echo Point was only around for a cup of coffee and a few of the actors found themselves in the Bay after a while
