Carly and Andrew were made for each other

Carly and Andrew were a great couple. If the PTB had decided in 1989 not to give Andrew his alcoholism problem they were a couple made for each other. 1988 and 1990 Carly were hard watches (Her sister and dad made 1988 difficult, and Ben of 1990 was a 19th century Sicillian godfather mafiosi chauvinist).

I tended to dislike Carly, but in 1989 she was a mature and collected likeable individual.

As ever the early days had a great fault in knowing what to do with post school students (Carly repeated in 1989), but at least there was chemistry between them.

I disagree, don't get me wrong they are better then her and Ben, but her and Matt should of ended up together.

Would Matt have just morphed into the emotionally abusive husband that Ben was for the sake of the story though?

Maybe the producers thought there was just too much history with Carly and Matt they wanted her to have a "fresh start" with someone new.

I think they should wrote out Ben and Carly after they got married as they basically did nothing for reminder of their time .

I do wonder if Tom had lived if Tom and Ben might of clashed more once they were living under same roof .

The relationship between Carly and Andrew seems creepier to me now than it did then. Perhaps it's because the 80's was a simpler time. All that saved it from being really icky was Andrew's oddly childlike way of behaving. I don't know who Carly was best suited to, but she deserved better than the awful Ben.

It's a nailed-on certainly that Ben and Tom would have butted heads if the two men found themselves living under the same roof. In that case, I would have been 100% on "Team Tom".
