Seeing Celia again in the 1988 episodes on 7+ makes me have the same feeling as I did seeing her scenes in 2010 on the 1988 reruns in 2009/2010...

Bring. Her. Back.

John is single, just sayin'.

Part of me wonders whether the original scenario was for Celia to be Bobby's biological mother. Perhaps her and Les spent the night together before he was shipped off to Vietnam and then she gave up the child out of shame of having a child out of wedlock, or perhaps grief if Les died before the baby was born. There would have the "chalk and cheese" relationship with Bobby and Celia, perhaps a similar dynamic to what we ended up with with Bobby and Don, and it probably would have been less contrived than Morag being Bobby's mother to be honest. Martha helping to cover up the pregnancy and organising the adoption wouldn't have needed to change either, since it would just have been swapping out one of Alf's sisters for another.

It wouldn't surprise me if the path changed when the producers realised it was short-sighted killing off Alan (despite the growth it gave Donald as a character) and that Nicolle and Norman had great chemistry, coupled with the fact that Morag's guest appearances had proved popular. It clearly worked out for the best, but I just feel like Donald/Bobby wasn't part of the plan when Alan died, it was more a plot device to bring Frank and Bobby together.
