  8. Interestingly that's the third variation of the book we've seen on-screen - back in the day it was a fairly large landscape book. Then when Maz had her amnesia in 2015 we saw one with a different artwork on the front (an old lady instead of a baby), and now we have this smaller version. Guess it grew so popular they kept reprinting!

  12. Marilyn should have first dibs on the Beach House. I associate that with her from the early days almost as much as I do Irene. I agree she needs some family or a love interest though. Maybe Heather could move in.

  23. It's a shame they've never really added episodes into rotation either as far as I know. They could add the missing deaths and weddings (including iconic non-weddings like Frank/Roo and Sally/Kieran), more major events like the 1996 earthquake, Bobby's ghostly appearance (iconic 90s moment!), episode 4000 and the 2005 conclusion to the Summer Bay Stalker story, as well as the departures of icons like Sally, Fisher and Pippa. It would also be nice to include part two of some of the episodes that end on major cliffhangers like Tom's death, the landslide, Duncan's bomb and the Diner siege - they've done it with others like Cyclone Raymond and the 2002 bus crash, so it's certainly possible.

  31. Let Cohen's father be the REAL deal and a half-decent act, not another psycho or impostor. Roo, Button it and let the Sarge do his job!

  33. Good point - characters like Eliza and Cohen primarily interact with Roo, Alf, Marilyn and a few others. Even when the fostering element had been pretty much reduced to guest characters, someone like Ty at least had the likes of Ryder, Raffy and Coco to work with. A few newcomers can be added in the current cast? Does Leah have any more nieces and nephews? Do any of the twentysomethings have a teenage siblings they can take under their wing? Has Shandi been away long enough to have teenage grandchildren for John? I'm not saying saturate the cast in teens like we had in the 90s and 2000s, but one or two to flesh out the guest foster stories would be great.

  43. The Macklin Corporation ended up being a wasted opportunity. If the show has kept it around, It wouldn't have had to dominate every storyline, but it could have been used in and out as needed for plots or character employment. With Brett Macklin taking on a Paul Robinson–style role, the company could have become to Home and Away what Lassiters is to Neighbours. It gave the show balance at the time, and Stacey was, I felt, a particularly important character in that mix.

  44. Cohen did catch Roo out when he asked if it meant his mum wouldn't be his mum anymore, he's a smart cookie. It would all depend on what he decides. He, of course, doesn't know that Samantha relinquished her parental rights on him which would be a real kick in the teeth for him. Anyways, wouldn't she still need to be told he's being put up for adoption? Harper, to me, has been the voice of reason, she isn't emotionally involved so can look at it more professionally. She knows Cohen is in a good home and will be well cared for and she knows Roo, Alf and Marilyn. Even with her reference it would still be down to the the real PTB, they may have to come and check the place out, go into Alf's, Marilyn's and Roo's background. Even Harper thinks Roo is getting way ahead of herself, she's only an Emergency Foster Carer, would she be able to just jump from that to an adopter, plus as Harper said there are forms and processes to go through first. Wouldn't she need to try out long term fostering first, which can last for years? Roo did dismiss the fact TPTB were still looking for any blood relatives of Cohen's. But this is Roo though and she does get very obsessed. We still have no idea how old Cohen is I was thinking maybe 11/12, he's a tall lad but that is no guide. It was funny when he cottoned onto the fact his shepherds pie was a veggie version and he really pleased Maz when he asked for another slice. Might have known Sonny didn't manage to book anywhere as everywhere was full. We know he hasn't any money to pay for a room, any room. I do like Dana but did she have to mention THAT word twice - begins with S ends with N. Sonny despite his image as a carefree, nonchalant bloke has a very caring side as we saw when he managed to get Dana open up about her and Harper's parents and how it was for them, drunks and druggies and left to fend for themselves so that is why Dana looks on Irene as the mum she never had. Irene's recent fall off the wagon must have brought back some bad memories for them. We do tend to not appreciate our parents and take them for granted hence Sonny's call to his mum. How much did that house of the Langham's sell for? David was giving Lacey $1000,000 and Jo the same and I'm guessing he's not leaving himself penniless or whatever the equivalent is in OZ. $100,000 is a lot to turn down just to get one over your dad, but Theo who is being used as a mediator between David and Lacey did make a very good point the house had been her mum's too. Makes sense now why we saw that eternity ring Jo was wearing who said it was her mums. Methinks Lacey doesn't know this hence David asking Jo to give it to Lacey and the punch up in the surf club. I know some are finding it tiresome this ongoing cold war between Jo and Lacey but Lacey still blames Jo for the accident that killed their mum and Jo can't explain how it happened as she can't remember and she thinks David knows more than he's saying. It would rankle and she can't grief properly neither can David or Jo. There seems to be a start of new friendship between David and Justin.

  48. Not that I really care about Remi and Bree repairing things, but it annoyed me the way Cash self-righteously said the situation didn't compare to him and Eden because Remi cheated. Well, Cash may not have cheated but being honest, I think the way he treated Eden was much worse in some regards; he was the 'dumping party' and Eden had done absolutely nothing to deserve it, and he treated her worse than dirt for weeks. For all the wrongs of Remi's behaviour at least it was impulsive and drug-induced. Obviously it makes sense that Irene sells her share of the Diner rather than giving it away and I'm sort of surprised it took John to make her see that, but given her diagnosis I suppose she gets a free pass on pretty much anything like that now; I guess she was willing to defer to John because she no longer trusts her own judgement. In many ways she seems more at peace with the decision to leave the business than Leah does, and I'm surprised she's got there so soon.
