That's fair. She's been off nearly as long as she was on. Now Irene's gone, there's only two characters currently on the show when Sally left in 2008 and another two that she knows. The only way I could see it happening is to introduce Pippa Jr (now 24/25) as a full time character but the show has too many 20something girls.

I don’t know where to post this but Kate Ritchie said it’s likely Sally will never return to the show. She stated “The show is doing so well, it doesn't need Sally anymore," she said, adding that the show has "moved on" and that Sally has a "nice life somewhere". It’s lovely to see the Beach House patio in use again, hopefully the whole set will become a more commonly seen playing space now.

I did two episodes back to back late last night and genuinely can't remember what events happened on which episode so forgive me if this is a spoiler. But yeah I'm getting a bit bored of the rinse & repeat thing with Remi. He made one, albeit huge, mistake sleeping with Avalon and I get it's frustrating to lose her as a result, but there's only so many times I can watch the puppy dog act before he hits the bottle and spirals because she's told him to rack off.

The problem is that their are too many characters in the same age bracket, so it's difficult to make them all interesting. Too many of them are just generic or "cookie cutter", and driven by average writing, and many seem to be sticking around longer than perhaps the writers anticipated too. The twenty and thirtysomethings were much more interesting in the 90s and 2000s because there were fewer of them - I'm talking the likes of Donna, Travis, Rebecca, Jesse, Shauna, Kelly, Vinnie, Leah, Sally and Flynn. Admittedly some were more interesting and memorable than others, but they seemed to have more interesting storylines, perhaps because there were only a handful around at the same time. The show wasn't flooded with them like they are now. The show always seemed easier to keep the teenage characters fresh because it was easier to give them personalities or archatypes (i.e. the nerd, the tomboy, the jock etc.) and teenage issues are generally so varied and relevant. Twentysomethings and thirtysomethings generally have more generic and/or mundane issues - money worries, relationships etc. - so it's hard to make that interesting when there are so many in the cast at once.
