James Martin Posted December 30, 2005 Report Posted December 30, 2005 It was the 2000 Olympic Cliffhanger - the first time the show had broken for the games. The second was in 2004, with the Sarah Lewis siege. I believe Seven have the rights to Bejing 2008 so not sure what's happening there, London 2012 I have no idea about.
Furze-Forever Posted December 30, 2005 Report Posted December 30, 2005 Actually I've just had a thought! five are going to be launching a new digital channel sometime in early 2006 called five.2 - there's also talk of a five.3 at some point. Maybe the omnibus may be shown on one of them! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Or, maybe, they'll show the Ozi episodes one of them. But it makes sense for them to move the omnibus to another channel. However, if like me this week, you've missed it, then this is a right bummer.
Liz Posted December 30, 2005 Report Posted December 30, 2005 Yes the new five channels are going to be on Freeview <{POST_SNAPBACK}> *Sigh of relief breathed*.
Ashirr-Leigh Posted December 30, 2005 Report Posted December 30, 2005 It aired in October 2001, UK time. Five had aired 80 episodes before that. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thanks.. hadn't realised I'd missed so much. Ah well.
Lucky Posted December 31, 2005 Report Posted December 31, 2005 Just incase anyone's not seen it... it would appear that the weekend omnibus is to be scrapped from Five screens, this Saturday's being the last. A very dissapointing move coming off the back of the editing of the 4000th episode. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That sucks, we should complain, not that it will make a difference mind you
Foxy Posted January 1, 2006 Report Posted January 1, 2006 I don't see how axing the omnibus is poor treatment of the show. Let's face it, we were getting three showings of every episode, and I always figured that'd be reduced. (Personally I always thought the lunchtime showing would go, but that's besides the point). We still have the oppurtunity to see a repeat, which is more than can be said for other countries!!
James Martin Posted January 2, 2006 Report Posted January 2, 2006 To be fair, apart from brief periods in 1989 and 2000, we've always had at least two screenings a day of H&A, so it'd be a shame to lose one. Must say I prefer having the evening screening being the first showing though.
ste Posted January 2, 2006 Report Posted January 2, 2006 Yeah it makes so much more sense to have the repeat the following day instead of two showings in the same day.
Sara-Jayne Posted January 2, 2006 Report Posted January 2, 2006 five are going to be launching a new digital channel sometime in early 2006 called five.2 - there's also talk of a five.3 at some point. That is EXCELLENT news!!!! They HAVE to put on omnibus on one of those don't they? Don't they???? Oooooh I do actually feel some hope on the horizon now - thanks! I don't have freeview yet but this is certainly going to change that! Thank you!! S-J xxx PS: Just before I click send - one of my housemates met Kip Gamblin at a party just before Christmas in London - how jealous was I?!?!?
Stone_the_flaming_crows Posted January 3, 2006 Report Posted January 3, 2006 I received an email from Channel 5 today giving the reason for them scrapping the omnibus. It seems pretty clear. I'm not allowed to post it because of confidential info but anyone wanting to read it can pm me and I'll tell them.
