I wonder why 'straight' women have little problem with describing another woman as hot/sexy/attractive, but 'straight' men are very reluctant to talk that way about a member of the same sex.

Not that that has owt to do with the topic, but I've been pondering it.

I think it's because part of what it is to be 'masculine' is to desire pretty things, not to admire them. So a macho straight guy will say that a girl is really hot if she's pretty because his desire reinforces his masculinity, but he won't comment on the beauty of a summer's day / curtain fabric / Orlando Bloom. Non-macho straight guys are getting better at that though, I think. Some of my straight male friends will comment on how attractive certain men are. They'll even flirt a little with my gay male friends. This might just be the group I hang out with, but I've noticed a definite change in the last few years.
