MDW (#1) was easily the best. He was exciting, sexy and cool. He and Sally had a real spicy chemistry and he wasn't ever boring. My fave H&A storyline ever (acting, writing etc wise) was Ashley Saunders' drugs battle and I can't imagine JMI (#2) ever doing justice to that.

MDW was a rocker and a surfer and the character used to have credibility when he was around. Plus, JMI and Sally are sickly sweet. It's almost revolting.

Where's the spark gone?

I think Joel has really made Flynn hos own character...the "Old" Flynn and the "new" Flynn barely resemble one another (character-wise) at all anymore.

Remeber how Flynn first came into H&A, a muscly, gravelly voiced blond ?? He was Noah's "cool and controversial" counseller, a total free-spirit, great mates with Jude....even in a "band" with Jude and Sally and Shauna and Noah (OMG  so hilarious, remembr that??!! )Anyway, I digress...

My point being, that Fklynn seems so far away from the fFlynn we know toady he seems almost a different character. That is because Joel has really changed him and made him his own.

I didn't use to like Joel's Flynn...I think it was when he first came in it was such a surprise and I felt he and Kate tried to force the chemsitry too much, and it just wasn't happening. However, now they have bothe relaxed into it I think they have a nice warmth to them, and it works well.

It's funny, I really didn't like Flynn at all until a few months ago...perhaps when I heard of his imminent daeth...but now I find him really quite sweet and lovable. he is like teddy bear, all cuddly and vulnerable....oh dear I am starting o worry myslef now...:o

And I loved the way he delivered that line in yesterdays episode....Chloe said to Sally "I want to get to know this hunky husband of yours," and Flynn, who was sitting in a chair on the opposite side of the room, looked at Sally and said "See Sal, Chloe thinks I'm hunky."

I really have no idea why, but it made me laugh a fair old bit.

I am liking him more and more each day....it's going to be truly heartbreaking when he "moves into the next room". :(:o

Joel McIlroy has definitely made Flynn into his own character but I don't necessarily see this as a good thing. I reckon he's changed to much about him so that they're not the same anymore when, realistically, they should be.

Yes and no, the fact is we all change as we grow older, and have different experiences and responsibilities. So in that sense it is realistic.

Joel has made Flynn his own, and has brought depth to the character which I doubt MDW would have been able to do, and I gather is one of the reasons why the part was recast. Joel looks at Sally in a way that Martin never did, maybe viewers were distracted from this because Marty is a hunk.

Personally I much prefer Joel as I think he has brought something to the character which was lacking and although Flynn has been a character who plays parts in the stories of others rather than has had major stories of his own, apart from the leah Flynn thing, he is an integral cast member. I think Flynns "death" would be far less emotional if it had been Marty, we'd be bemoaning the loss of the eye candy  . That's my opionion anyway. :D

I didn't see the episodes with the old flynn in them I don't think. But I think Joel is the better Flynn. Especially with the cancer storyline, I can't imagine Martin doing them as well. Joel is also a bit more hunkier then Martin. That is my opinion anyway.
