Realitychecker40 Posted December 8, 2005 Report Posted December 8, 2005 Yes I thought so as well, Perhaps Irene remembered about how Angie hurt nick and let this cloud her judgement? I don't think she wanted to go through that again with Hayley.
Realitychecker40 Posted December 8, 2005 Report Posted December 8, 2005 Exactly!! Ella's awesome, I much prefer the way she plays Hayley. Calmer, you know? Just wait til she's on UK screens! She rocks! Hmm, we don't like the new Hayley. we have seen her on downloaded clips and think that she is rubbish!
Liz Posted December 8, 2005 Report Posted December 8, 2005 Irene the drama queen! It is completely understandable, IMO, considering her pregnant foster daughter had just been admitted to hospital, that Irene would lash out at the only present guilty party. I'm sure that had Scott been there at that moment, he would have felt the fury too.
ste Posted December 8, 2005 Report Posted December 8, 2005 How convenient. Just like Irene was in the Diner when Josie was revealed to have saved the bay but conveniently disappeared when Josie arrived.
Ashirr-Leigh Posted December 8, 2005 Report Posted December 8, 2005 I don't like the way we're supposed to accept this sort of stuff from Irene. I don't know about everyone else but that's the way it's presented to me anyway.
Liz Posted December 8, 2005 Report Posted December 8, 2005 ^ Irene is one of the only characters who could generally get away with it. She's been established as a really good woman and people (other that Ste ) tend to be able to overlook her flaws.
Frankie Posted December 8, 2005 Report Posted December 8, 2005 I think we are supposed to see Irene as bit of a loud mouth, who loves her brood and fights her corner. But ....she makes mistakes.... a bit like Josie really but in a much much less subtle way. OK so she walked away when Josie came in, but I think the writers don't want to get into all of that when they have a very short time slot in which to tell a lot of different stories. The only time when we do see that is when it contributes to the story which they are telling at the time. There are lots of times when I think all of the characters should have done or said something but if they had then nothing else would of happened so I just accept thats the way it is.
ste Posted December 8, 2005 Report Posted December 8, 2005 ^ Irene is one of the only characters who could generally get away with it. She's been established as a really good woman and people (other that Ste ) tend to be able to overlook her flaws. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You are right though. We are generally supposed to be see things from Irene's point of view, because she's been in the show so long and in general she stands for all that's well and good (or likes to think she does). So when Irene thinks something, we - the audience - are supposed to think it too. That's why a lot of the time people don't notice her being a bitch. Because they automically agree with her. So I don't think they *overlook* her flaws, I think they just don't really notice because they're too busy subconsiouly agreeing with her.
Ashirr-Leigh Posted December 8, 2005 Report Posted December 8, 2005 I agree with you totally. You sound like my Media Studies teacher, lol. He's forever telling us that just because a certain person is presented as the 'goodie' it doesn't automatically mean that they are. In other words, the writers are telling us what to think by, as you said, establishing Irene as a good character whereas Josie, well, she's not so black and white.
dncllpyk Posted December 9, 2005 Report Posted December 9, 2005 I love Irene lashes out whenever someone hurts or does something wrong to one of the kids that shes taken in. And Hayley is really like a daughter to her shes known her for a long time now since she was about 15. She lashed out at Peter when Kane got arrested. I loved how she was when Diana wanted to get her mits on Olivia. I mean theres now way that Chloe would of wanted Diana to get custody of her. Irene just wanted what was best for Olivia. I think thats way she was happy to let her go with James. Diana only cares about herself. Remember that time she pretended to blind?
