Looks fun, Kat.

Well, when I was in hospital I had to wear these leg brace things that went from the top of my thighs down to my ankles and everything was strapped straight. Lying flat like that for a week is not fun! I had so many mirrors to be able to watch television. :P

And I've also had to wear this thing called a twister brace. It was to encourage me to walk straighter and it basically consisted of a plastic moulded brace, a bit like yours, and then there were two metal strips that came out from either side of it (a bit like Meccano strips) and then followed my legs all the way down and screwed into my shoes to stop my feet from turning in.

How long will you have to wear it for? I can imagine it would be fun in the summer. :P

Oh you win! That sounds horrible... *shudders with sympathy for Jess*

For at least three months, depending on how it heals so we're looking at least the end of July so basically all summer yeah... sucks but after reading your last post I'm gona stop moaning and feel lucky!

^^ Nooo! You win! I was in a nice air-conditioned hospital, and I wasn't too hot! Summer would be absolute hell!

That looks annoying, Kat. I wouldn't be able to cope with wearing that. I'd probably claw my way out of it soon enough. :P

It's a bugger being strapped to something for so long. I was strapped to a Protein bag, which went up my nose (). It was only for a week though, not all summer like yours. :(

Good luck with it and I hope you can get it off soon!

That looks a bit awkward Kat. :P

*thinks about all accidents he's had and thinks of the longest time had something attached to him*

I think i had the plaster cast on my leg right up to the top of my thigh for 8 - 10 weeks.

Then i had another cast - a removable one on for about 4 weeks. But told to only take it off when had baths couldn't have a shower as couldn't stand up.

And when they removed the plaster cast it was literally and i mean literally impossible at the time to straighten my leg (so couldn't stand up properly but told to put weight on it) as they made the cast bent. I couldn't straighten it properly until like 3 weeks after as the muscles had to kick in again they had completely gone.

When i tried to straighten it, it felt like my knee was going to break or something.

Anyway, i'm fine now and back to normal nearly whatever normal is :P but just remember Kat there is a light at the end of the tunnel. :) And although, in the situation you're in at the moment July seems ages away but it comes you will think actually it didn't go as slow as i thought. And when you get completely better you get used to just being out of action and get lazy :P and not want to do anything but then you have no excuse lol.

Yikes, you poor accident-prone kittens! The worst I had was my wisdom teeth out, and I couldn't eat for a week. I come from a town on a major logging highway, where all the best kinds of pies are, and I was craving one for the ENTIRE WEEK. I still haven't had one! (I live up in the city now.) But the first meal I had gave me food poisoning.

So consider yourself sympathised thoroughly.

Does it count?? My girl had to wear this for the first 12 weeks of her life, she wasn't allowed baths, had to have sponge baths, made sleeping hard and she barely fit in her carseat, she was in it right through summer too, got sores from the boots :(

Not nearly as bad as yours, we get a check on 7th June to see if things are doing as they should, if not, she will be going into casts that will hold her legs out like that

^^ Awww! Has she got hip displacement, by any chance?

I hope everything works out okay for you guys. Those kinds of cast aren't nice, but at least it's slightly better when the child's older 'cause you can reason with them, but at that age they just don't understand why Mummy and Daddy seem to have put hem in so much discomfort. Eeek, must be fun in the summer.
