MarMar Posted November 30, 2006 Report Posted November 30, 2006 So basically, we cannot import anything. A CD in Norway costs app. NOK180 (US$28), so it kinda eliminates our options... The duty is 25% of the total value + NOK75 for "handling" (app. US$11). Only good thing is that books and printed matter is duty free. However, the limit of NOK200 has been the same since the mid. '70s. No one has taken into account how wages and costs have risen.
TabbyCool Posted November 30, 2006 Report Posted November 30, 2006 We don't have any "goth" stores here, so I had to order them from a Norwegian-based store (to not have to pay tax - everything over NOK200 is taxable, app. US$31), and waited months for them to manage to deliver them to me. Was the size as you expected? Some shoes are smaller or larger sizes than you'd expect, meaning you have to buy a different size to usual. Have you ever worn TUK, Dr Martens or New Rocks? Would you say the sizes are about the same? It's so much better when you can try shoes on! I love buying shoes and boots, but I hate not being able to at least try on a pair of the same brand first!
MarMar Posted November 30, 2006 Report Posted November 30, 2006 I ordered a size (UK) 5, European 38 as I wanted them to be a bit too big instead of a bit too small, and got what I expected. Also, they've "grown" to fit my foot quite good, after a very short time. I don't have Dr Martens, but I've got a pair of Grinders (old Dr Martens factory made their own brand), and I would say the size is a bit smaller than the 4/38 I have of those. If you are interested, you could, perhaps, measure the sole of your foot (step down on a piece of paper and mark it), and ask the store which size would be best.
TabbyCool Posted November 30, 2006 Report Posted November 30, 2006 Thanks Mar, some of the websites I've seen actually have size conversions in cm as well as in actual shoe sizes, so it's probably the best option really. I need shiny boots, matte boots don't look as good with my shiny PVC dress I bought on holiday! It's black and shiny I think I'm going to wear it when I go to see NIN in March
