A gay character?

Having re-read the post, I now place my prior wrath in the direction of the Australian Television Industry!

But even so, retarded is an offensive word, and shouldn't be used in derogatory terms, or in disagreement.

Jeez, you ignore a forum for a few weeks and look what happens.

Ste, you made me laugh out loud in a public computer room...thanks :P

Way back in october, someone posted "imagine if Robbie and Kim were gay" .... heh, you don't have to tell ME twice! *Happily imagining* ^_^

Well, I'v given up on Rob and Kim ever really getting together (apart from every night in my dreams...). My new hope is for Lucas to meet some spunky young thang and go for it :D

I still think there'd have to be a bit of confusion about it, if that were to happen. Even though it might be tedious to watch, I don't think it would be very realistic for Luc to just come home one day with his arm around some guy and announce to everyone, "Hey, I'm gay! Make a note of it." I mean it would be good to watch, but...yeah, I don't see it happening like that, sorry :P

Maybe the conflict doesn't have to come from confusion, but from his fear of telling people about it. No matter how cool the people around you are, I'd imagine there'd always be that thing in the back of your mind saying "What if they reject me? What if they tell someone else who'll want to hurt me??" Hmm but I'm paranoid like that.

Simple solution to everyone's problems, bring back Charlie!! Surely he's been rehabilitated by now, and can roam freely amongst the townsfolk, picking and choosing those which he'd like to help "explore" their sexuality :P??

EDIT: Forgot to mention about Buffy. Tara was one of the best characters EVER (and had a killer singing voice, by the way). The only problem I ever had with Willow being gay (apart from poor Oz being devestated... and then trying to kill Tara...) was when she let that sk**ky h*-b*g Kennedy get within a 1000 miles of her! *SHUDDER!!* How could anyone possibly find THAT attractive?? It'd be like making out with a toad on prozac >_<

Firstly apologizing for going way back in the this topic.

If they were to introduce this then I would rather have a character who just happens to be gay than a gay character.

I'm with you. But I think we're dreaming thinking that would happen on a soap - even when the likelihood of getting away with it would be higher if you didn't make a fuss.

Sad realities. Hopefully one day it will change.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Basically what I'm saying is that it can happen. It would be so simple to bring in a character without them going through the 'Am I gay?' storyline. The character should be comfortable with there sexuality from the start and there doesn't even have to be a big storyline about it either.

Rant over

Firstly, thank you for being the smartest poster in this topic. I totally agree. A character doesn't have to have a big *GAY STORYLINE*. I think Home and Away could even have a gay relationship but if they did, I'd prefer it to be very subtle like. The viewers too young to understand will think it nothing but a friendship and the others will know, but because of the *lack of drama* with the storyline it *shouldn't* cause an uproar.

I haven't read through all the posts, so sorry if I'm asking something that's already been answered, but has there ever been any real gay storylines?

The only ones I can remember is Christopher Fletcher right before Sally and Flynn's wedding, and that storyline only lasted like what, a week?!

Wasn't there also a storyline with Gypsy thinking she was gay? Well obviously she wasn't after all, so I wouldn't say that was a real gay storyline...

we're going to be meeting a gay character soon. His name is Dean and he'll date Matilda to try hide that he's gay

I love the spoiler tags. They're so fun :P
