Heh heh, what a fun topic :)

Okay, first I must confess...I once thought you were all pathetic losers with no lives and yes, probably even GAY! (Not that I personally find homosexuality insulting, the word was just the style at the time, lol). But the reason I was so against Home and Away is because I loved it once and it turned on me... they took my Adam away. I was never going to fogive them - NEVER!! What kind of a stupid backwards show would get rid of Adam!?!

Of course now the only thing I can remember about Adam is that I liked him, so I guess I'm over it...

Maybe all of these people that are trying to put you down just have old wounds like I did. That, or they need to get over themselves. I still don't think that Home and Away is Oscar material or anything (you know what I mean), but it has it's own unique charms. If people can't see that, then that's their loss.

Why is "gay" insulting when it used to mean happy? - good point

Can you be a little gay? I like to think so *coughtashaishotcough*

Does watching a TV show make you gay? Um, no. IF there are gay people in it (which there aren't in Home and Away because, unlike Neighbours, someone there seems to have a bad case of homophobia - won't go near the subject...well, once as a psycho-killer trait), and you enjoy watching it, I think all it means is that you're mature enough to realise there are all kinds of people out there, and if they happen to do things a little differently to you it's no big deal. It's all the same kind of love/lust/caring isn't it? I watch Queer as Folk whenever I can, and I relate to it emotionally (to the point of tears, sometimes...). I'm not a gay man, but that doesn't mean I can't imagine what it would feel like to know that my boyfriend could die. Jeez... I think it's called being human.

As for watching soaps = homosexuality...uh...huh? It may be slightly shameful... maybe (no, I don't watch Days of Our Lives and Passions!! WHO SAID THAT I DID!?!?!)...but not gay.

Boys, don't worry. I believe you when you say that you're straight. Hell, with Isabel around, I reckon it'd be pretty dificult not to be! Well.. there is Jason... and Chris... And then that little blonde one... hmm...

What was that you were saying about being greedy?? :D

Off-topic, but I heard the word 'gay' to mean 'homosexual' originated from the phrase 'Good As You'. ie. G.A.Y. :)

Queer as Folk was a gay show. The L Word is a gay show.

H&A is just a soap. A nice normal (most of the time) soap.

Even if a show is a gay show (ie. centered around gay people) it doesn't mean that only gay people watch it! I watched Queer As Folk a few times and quite liked it, but I'm not in the slightest bit gay!

That was not what I meant. I absolutely adore QaF because of the storylines. I probably should have explained that

All my friends watch home and away and no-one i know calls it gay. When people say gay i dont think they are againsts gay people it is just where you grew up in.

Most of my friends (male and female) watch neighbours but I think I'm the only one who watches home and away. My friends think I'm wierd for watching it but they think I'm wierd for jumping out of planes too so it doesn't bother me overmuch. When I was in halls at uni we used to have to fight to get home and away on the communal tv but whenever we managed it the lads were more obsessed than the girls. I agree with breezer that home and away can be quite camp at times so maybe that's why people get stereotyped for watching it but I just think they're the ones missing out. I managed to convince my ex-boyfriend to watch it and my sister's boyfriend sits in and watches it with us so I don't think being gay or straight has anything to do with it.
