An early one I enjoyed was Gary Samuels. At the very beginning it was hard to know if he was guilty or innocent, and then it all unfolded. There was the drama with Carly, Philip and Stacey's sleuthing and Gary's demise.

Karen Breaking Bad. It's hard to credit that the Karen who first showed up in 1990 would end up in prison, and that it made sense that she belonged there. Karen is an underrated character from the early years and I like how they sowed the seeds for her relationship with Revhead long before it happened.

Pippa and Michael. I mentioned this one elsewhere but I'll stick it here. You could see a mile off that these two fancied each other. It had everything - Pippa's nervousness about getting involved with another man yet being like a giggly teenager at the same time. Kids who weren't happy about them getting together, the ex-wife showing up and a final bout of cold feet from Pippa.

Original Irene was a scary woman, and you could easily imagine her hitting her kids and being drunk. She was always entertaining, whether it was tangling with Pippa and Michael, scaring her kids or finally admitting she needed to sort herself out.
