I wish they'd bring back the school and the teen aspect of the show.  At least there was more potential for different storylines, rather than as you say, just the endless cookie-cutter 20-30-somethings in an endless make up and break up cycle.

It would be great if we could stream older seasons as the entire run of Neighbours is being uploaded onto the Neighbours Classics YouTube channel if Neighbours can be uploaded to stream then why can’t H&A, at this stage with the shows current format id rather do a rewatch then watch the modern episodes. I’d love to watch the entire Sutherland and Braxton eras again two of my favourite families on the show but it’s wishful thinking 😅.

I feel like guest characters like Perri and Cohen are introduced to appease the fanbase that want the show to return to the teenager/fostering aspect of the show.

The fostering element is never going to be ongoing while Georgie Parker takes time out for theatre, so it's "safe" and an easy win. It might not be the producers' intention and I just sound cycnical, but there are plenty of other characters who could venture into that territory like John, Marilyn, David or even some of the more stable younger characters ventured into that territory.  In which case, we'd be expecting it to be more ongoing.

I'd argue Leah and Justin.  Would give them a focus and at some point they've got to draw a line under Theo.

Theo was great for Leah and Justin. Maybe they'll bring Ava in for more a family dynamic...or a long lost child..

^ Knowing them, they'll have Ava pregnant from a uni fumble and she decides she can't keep the child and Justin and Leah into the breach only for her and the baby's Dad to get back together and effectively decide they want the kid, pulling the rug out from under Justin and Leah. It would be on-brand (more on the writers part)

I'm over long-lost relatives, who's the daddy and back from the dead (Looking at you, Enders) in soap tbh.

They probably should have done that while Theo was around to create that family dynamic. Instead, they wasted Ava for that pointless story. It's on par with the writers using/inventing relatives for the long-termers for one-off storylines though: Heather with Marilyn , Kieran with Roo , Mick with Irene. It's just a shame the producers go to the effort to rewrite history and not thiink about the long-term. Heather was a twentysomething, so could have been a regular. Kieran could have had children, to provide family for Roo and Alf, if not be a regular himself. Likewise, Mick could have given Irene a new batch of grandchildren.

I'm surprised Leah has never had a long-lost child, since pretty much every other possible stalwart character has had one at some point: Alf twice, Ailsa, Donald, Marilyn, Irene, Colleen. John and Roo haven't had one yet, but that's about it I think. Leah's long-lost child would have been born in the late 90s, so the perfect age to be joining the regular cast.

Actually you can add John to the club - he had Shandi 😄
