Do you think Irene would have developed differently if Jacquy Phillips stayed in role ?

If Jacquy Phillips had stayed playing Irene and returned in 1993 as a regular do you think Jacquy Phillips would develop the same in becoming a more comical relief then eventually becoming a more serious and more motherly type of character. 
 

I can’t imagine Jacquy's Irene in a more comical relief way and so maybe they might have taken her character in a different direction by making her a more serious character sooner but having reformed.

There is every chance Jacquy Phillips might not have stayed as long as Lynne McGranger did.
