Not 100% sure but I think the Stewart family moved into Summer Bay House in about 1962, and the house was built long, long before 1962, I say about 1900-1910.

Walter Bertram grew up in the Old Standish house where his mother lived. By 1988 it had been empty and derelict for ages. This implies his mother was a Standish by birth before she wed Walter's father. Maybe he was a cousin of some sort of Viv "The Guv" Standish.

Due to the size of Summer Bay, it always has had scope to bring in new families that never featured before in the show yet lived in the Bay for decades.

Well the Stewarts had lived in Summer Bay House since it was built I believe, according to Viv, Alf’s Grandfather (I think) gifted him the Caravan Park business, so presumably Alf took over the house once he died.
