Not camp, but the chopper crash and the show's desperation to become Lost in 2006 was bizarre.

Especially so soon after the 2005 plane crash that Eve/Zoe caused... I don't think there was any overlap of characters in both crashes, but my memory of 2005 is a bit vauge. I remember Leah and Dan were involved, as I had the novel which had Leah on the cover.

I felt like the "disasters" like fires, explosions, crashes and natural disasters really ramped up in this era, usually with Martha, Hayley, Belle or Sally being the character in peril. Such moments felt like "events" in the early years, but by the this era they were so commonplace and more often than not, every regular character survived and was ready to face the next disaster within a few episodes. I think it started around 2003/2004 when we had Hayley and Brodie's car crash, Seb/Jade/Duncan stuff, the Sarah Lewis siege, but it really took off with the Summer Bay Stalker story and the momentum just kept rolling.

I guess you could argue the mid 90s was the same: the seaplane crash, the bushfire, the flood, the earthquake and Cyclone Raymond were all within a few years of each other, but they still felt like major must-see viewing to me. Maybe because I was only 7 or 8 at the time, as opposed to a teenager during the mid 2000s years?

The time Alf bought a waterbed and had Shane and Damien install it in his room. It went the way any other waterbed story in a TV show goes...

Not nearly as infamous as Reg/Maureen in Corrie the year before😂

And also Camp, Dan singing Soul Kind of Feeling at his and Leah's wedding but in a good way

Oh don't remind me! I've never been able to unsee all that pasty shoulder and torso footage from Reg and Maureen, despite the decades which have passed since then...

Any scenes with Lois Crawford were a bit camp. For anyone too young to remember, she was a Cruella de Ville type who was headmistress for a little while. She power-dressed like it was still 1985 and she even had 80s jogging gear. She was played by Tina Bursill who looked like she was having a ball.

I can just see her caning it down Yabbie Creek and yelling "Road Hog!" during a near-miss ala Cruella in that movie.

Power dressing, oh Jesus the shoulder pads, Mum wore those lol
