Good to have you back Red, you had quite a bit to catch up on.

Yep, maybe Cash did make an error of judgement by letting Remi off punching him in public but he made up for it when he arrested him for drink driving, he may have been sober but the alcohol he'd consumed the night before was still in his system and so was over the limit so he absolutely had no choice. Hope the cops arrange for the bike to be recovered from where it was left. We did see the chaos Remi left of Cash's place hunting for his keys.   I suppose it didn't occur to any of them when they were looking for him Remi was at Cash's.  Maybe being locked up will give him some time to think about what he's been doing. I do like Remi and it's sad to see him like this and all through his own making.  I kept expecting him to turn up at Bree's so every time someone knocked on her door I was waiting for him to be there.

Theo did manage to sweet talk Justin into starting at 10 so he could fit in surfing lessons, and saying he'd work late to make up  his time  with advice from Sonny of all people by playing on the fact Justin would do the same for Leah. Mali nearly dropped him in it when he thanked Justin for letting Theo help him, but Theo got there just in time.  I get Justin would be worried Theo would burn himself out,  but they can only give it a go and see how it goes.   Wasn't Lacey banned from working at Salt due to her history with the RB's? and wasn't that Mac's decision?

Irene's SL has gathered pace but John was good with her reassuring her after working at the Diner for all those years it would have  been  a hard habit to break not to get up in the morning and do what you had been doing without thinking about it.  He saw Justin approaching them and discreetly waved him away so he could take Irene without making look like a big deal.  Good talk with Irene and Leah about her symptoms and what her neurologist told her that they  can't  be definitive about how long she may have before she really goes downhill.  As they told her everyone is different, depends on the person what their attitude  about it is and what kind of support system thy have and how they deal with it.  If they come across as defeatist it makes the person going through to want to give up the ghost a lot earlier. Irene's crew are more upbeat about it without ignoring the issue.  Bree confirmed what they'd  had told her and was honest like Irene asked her to be.

Irene has got all the relevant paperwork sorted e.g. will written while she is still of sound body and mind and sorted out a  Power of Attorney.  She did say her kids aren't into all that stuff so has sorted it out now to save them fretting about it.  Her summons to Maz, Leah, John, Justin and was Alf there(?) to drop another bombshell.  Leah asking John to give  a goodbye speech did rock him as he said previously he didn't think he could say goodbye. 😢

It all happens next week and that is all I'm saying.

As we saw it's going to drop Harper and Dana in it as they don't have six weeks to get themselves a new place, more like six days! Dana did come up with a very bizarre suggestion.

Full steam ahead for Irene then. Her friends are trying to make it work but John's having a hard time hiding how disappointed he is. I did like the phone conversation with VJ.Took me a second to make the calculations but yes, Luc was born at the beginning of 2017 so eight years old is accurate.Even though there's been a bit of a crossover with the Langhams, there's a definite "Sutherlands taking over the caravan park" feel to this, with a new family coming in and taking over an established household.

Harper moving in with Tane might feel a bit less contrived if not for the big elephant in the room: Why has no-one mentioned the caravan park? Isn't that the usual go-to for regulars that find themselves suddenly homeless? Has anyone asked Alf if there's any vacancies?

If Cash arresting Remi was meant to be a wake-up call, then it doesn't seem to have worked.Eden going away for a while might be a smart move in a kill or cure kind of way.

Has Irene ever been abroad before?  If not, wondering how she's sorting out getting her passport that quickly.  And then there are all the various visas she's going to need to visit all these places.  Yes, in some parts of the world they're not needed, but I doubt she'll get away without needing at least some.  They all take time to organise, weeks usually, yet here she is rushing off in just 3 days.  Must be one hell of a travel agent in Abbey Creek.  🤪

Irene’s been to the UK twice and the USA once, I think more recently she’s been to Cyprus to see VJ & Luc at least once.

Red, I was wondering why no-one had suggested the caravan park too!

I wondered that too, but assumed it was probably because it was a come down after a comfortable house by the beach, the Caravan Park generally tends to be where people stay when they first arrive in town until they find a place.

Copying over from 5STAR thread:

Nice that Irene remembers Fin & Damien. I wonder if they remember her.

Irene wanting a big party for all her friends seemed like really classic Irene like the ill-fated dinner party she threw back in the 90s.

Now her story has ramped up though, it seems like we’re watching two different shows as we flick to Remi & Bree and Mac & Levi, there’s such a contrast in tone, lighting and pace.

Wow, Irene’s departure has really ramped up. Nice that she’s spending some time (well, a day!) with Fin and her grandkids before her memory gets too bad, it better be one hell of a day!

A shame that Irene left the furniture behind, seeing the Beach House empty for the first time would’ve been more powerful. It’s certainly going to be strange not having Irene living there after so long, I think aside from Emily Bishop in Corrie no other soap character has lived in the same house continuously for longer (Rita, Audrey & David all had stints living elsewhere).

It feels to me like people often go there when they're between homes. Mali did it earlier this year.

Yes, she was part of the first two visits to the UK, in 1998 and 2001.

Agreed, why aren't the Mathesons using the Caravan Park?  Or have the producers forgotten it exists? (not impossible TBH!)

Remi, what a dick.  Classic H&A "Cop turns blind eye" trope and he still didn't work out he was on thin ice.

Interesting that the promo was all focussed on the Bree/Remi breakdown and not Irene's penultimate episode.

Definitely echoes of Sally's departure, where the Jack/Martha/Sam love triangle rumbled on in the background.

If they can find David a love interest in time, and Jeremy and the girls can be persuaded to stay for a few years, that could make for an interesting dynamic.  Although I can't see the girls kissing and making up any time soon.

Big decision for Irene to go in three days!  She has got it all arranged, she'll be with either family or friends or with the various tour groups with a health carer to take care of her.   I dare say she's sorted out any visa's  and other paperwork or jabs she may need, she hasn't lost it yet.  Time really does fly doesn't it, Luc being eight!  Leah still being  a mum though VJ is in his mid 20's.

Leah will be in her element organising the big send off.  John is finding it so hard, bad enough when it was three months but three days is a lot for him to get his head around, he's got no-one to be there for him once she's gone, Leah has Justin and Theo, Dana and Harper have each other, Alf has Roo, though we haven't seen much interaction with her and Irene since the news broke and Maz. Sweet suggestion of Leah to help with the speech, but it's got to be John.

I have seen scenes of her Day and it looks lovely though I guess it's going to be very moving. I do hope we 'hear' from Irene now and again and how her travels are going.

It was very thoughtful that Irene had put a clause in the sale of the house that David couldn't move in until Harper and Dana had found  a new home, but I'm supposing they didn't want to take advantage and are willing to move out now. Irene has sold it furnished then it will save David and Jo won't have the worry of buying new furniture as having been in temporary accommodation they won't have any furniture.  Guess he got rid of the furniture from his old home?🤔 It'll feel more like a home than moving into an empty house.

The Caravan Park may have seemed an easier alternative until they found a 'proper' home but may be a bit cramped with  a baby, even if Harper was in one with Archie and Dana had another one, plus having to use the communal washroom wouldn't be ideal.   Harper was chivvied by Dana into going to live with Tane, has Cash been made aware that there will be a baby living with him?  Tane,  to my mind at least, just wants to make sure Archie  is in  a comfortable place which he knows.  He did look very happy bouncing Archie on his knee and he'll be there to look after him when Harper is at work and can't find a sitter.   The places Dana and Harper had been looking at seemed from what they said were pretty rubbish, how much do rentals in the bay cost be it flats, ground floor naturally, or houses/bungalows? They would have to be local to the hospital or Harper's workplace. One suggestion as to where Dana could live has  been raised again, but I'll keep mum about that. 🤫🙊

Guess TPTB are keeping us waiting until the Big Day so it's as much as treat - well kind of - for us as it will be for Irene.

Other things do happen which is why we saw the on-going trials and tribulations of Remi and Cash.  Cash was very much in cop mode not allowing Remi any leeway, he was just over the limit so I guess that is why he's only going to be fined and not allowed to drive for three months(?).  He was very, very lucky he wasn't charged for hitting a cop.  Again, hope someone will pick up the bike from where it was left.  Eden, wisely, got rid of all the booze but she couldn't prevent Remi ordering more on-line.  Is Cash suggesting he and Eden go away NOW which will mean they would miss Irene leaving?  He was one of her lodgers along with Jasmine and she was good to him when Jasmine dumped him.

Yes, Tane's mentioned it to Cash a few days ago asking if it would be okay with him if Harper and Archie moved in for a while.
