Cash told Eden last episode that Harper and Archie were moving in after all.

Well, a hastily arranged farewell for Irene. With Bree crying off and mentions of others, looks like it's mostly just going to be the stalwarts plus Harper, Dana and the extras. Not that Irene seemed to mind that much and she got a private moment with Leah beforehand. She'll be upset if John doesn't turn up though, and I'm not sure how long "He's getting the ice" will work.

Elsewhere, Sonny's relaxed attitude is probably the best way to handle Remi, although he did deserve Tane getting slightly scary with him. Dana's blabbermouth puts Bree on his case which was the moment I was most on his side. Bree can't ignore him and then storm round there when she feels like it and I was quite glad he gave her short shrift.Anyway, ironically her visit seemed to do him some good, he seemed calmer and less self-pitying next day and maybe being on his own for a while will help.

I'm not sure Tane really needed to explain what "I'm all yours" meant, but perhaps it saved them an uncomfortable silence.Harper seems to be returning the favour by pushing for Dana to stay with Sonny.

I was going to stop watching when Irene went to be honest But I will plod on to see what Tane does in Western Australia

Irenes exit has more holes than Swiss cheese to it But ok I will pretend that she won’t be wandering around the world lost forever I guess it’s good it ends on a happy note for the viewers

I forgot to say: When Irene and Leah reflected on "All the husbands", it occurs to me that Irene must be about the only person, other than Alf (and possibly VJ), to have met all Leah's husbands!

Possibly Morag too as Morag meet Zac in 2016 and it’s possible Morag might cross paths with Justin in Morag final guest appearance in 2017.

Yes, I think so and that continuity is a big part of what we lose with Irene. I guess Roo & Marilyn sort of bridge the gap up to Leah’s arrival though (aside from 1992-1995).

Must have missed that about Harper and Archie moving in.  If Cash and Eden are going away for a few days, it'll just be Harper and Tane  on their own so may be  a tad awkward having no third person there.  It was kind of tense between them.

As it was only two days for Leah to get people together  it would be a small gathering but big enough for Irene to handle, she did put a very good spread together.  I hope Roo does manage to make it, she's been a big  part of Irene's life too.

Marilyn met some of Leah's husbands.  Good to see Harper and Dana as they were the last of Irene's waifs and strays.

That ice would have melted the time it's taken John to fetch it. 🤣   Leah casually saying all the drinks were alcohol free. Maz giving Irene a  Tarot reading which was a nice touch.

The Beach House did look sad even though there was furniture there but none of Irene's personal belongings which made it hers. My favourite ornament if you can call it, the tree,  has been packed away.

Trust Dana to put her size 10's in it, though she did try hard to  back pedal.  Not sure if it was Bree storming round to see him or Sonny's laid back attitude but something spurred Remi to go and stay at his folks place.  Was that where Lyrik held their ill fated gig or that posh house, I'm guessing they are away touring.  He does need to be on his own away from everyone, especially Bree. He seemed  sober and had ordered a cab.   It appeared Sonny picked up Remi's bike which wonder of wonders  was  still where it was left. Not that it bothers anyone living in SB but I hope Sonny locked up when he left.

Wouldn't Sonny, if he and Dana agree, have to run it by Bree, it's going to be pretty crowded.  Nice bit  of revenge by Harper.

Tonight is the night then - as has been said end of an era.

We did see in the promo Justin saying to John he'd regret it if he didn't go.  I'm supposing we'll 'hear' what Irene wrote in those letters.  Leah of course, Alf, John, Maz and others who have meant a lot to her.

Tbf, she'll be near people she knows should anything go wrong (I'm sure there's *something* in place and at least one of the kids would be a contact)

Yes, a lot of holes in the name of dramatic license but as I said in the 5 Star thread, I think they've done the best with what they had.  Nobody would want to see her die onscreen.  And in hindsight maybe a returnee would have distracted focus away from Irene.

A brief(ish) rundown of Irene's past three decades in Summer Bay in our Oz pace article:

https://www.backtothebay.net/news/2025/08/19/home-and-away-airs-irenes-emotional-summer-bay-departure/#tribute

And our UK pace article also has a bit of info about the surprise return of the Beach House exterior, which I don't think has actually been mentioned in here yet:

https://www.backtothebay.net/news/2025/09/25/home-and-away-spoilers-irene-roberts-leaves-show-on-uk-screens/#beachhouse

No spoilers in either article now (other than the short synopses for Thursday/Friday at the bottom)

I meant to mention the beach house exterior reappearing but I forgot. Welcome back after over 20 years!

Well, there wasn't much to the episode beyond Irene leaving but that's all we needed.Roo turned up but didn't get much of a moment with Irene, but she's probably the one of the stalwarts Irene is least close to these days, and she got the last moments with Leah, Marilyn, John and to a lesser extent Alf. Not much with her last "girlies" surprisingly, although she's had a lot of stuff with Dana in the last few episodes. She does get some last moments with Sonny, who was a surprising choice to be the last person we see her with but it worked.

I don't think there's holes as such. I think it was Steven Moffat who said there's a difference between a plot hole and a plot omission, not giving you information you don't need. We get the broad strokes and that's all that's necessary: She's going to be among family and friends or on a guided tour with a carer, so if she does end up wandering around an unfamiliar city not knowing where she is, there'll always be someone looking out for her to point her in the right direction, just as there would be if she was in Summer Bay.I think they've struck a good balance between needing something big and dramatic to have Irene leaving after all this time and having her end on a positive note.

And it seems to have at least inspired Harper to stop being a mare over Jo and deal with what her life is, so hopefully that'll continue.
