A lot going on in that episode. It had occasionally crossed my mind that John's free coffees had to come to an end at some point and I was amused at Irene telling him via Marilyn  and a set of large cue cards. It didn't put him in the right frame of mind to be dealing with his bronze medallion class, not that he's exactly the touchy feely taskmaster at the best of times.I notice he seems to have embraced Mali's "JP" nickname. Not sure Harper feeding his habit was a particularly long-term solution.

Harper gets an interview and Marilyn gets a holiday offer.(Jett's wife can't go with him so he asks his mum?Really?) Theo and Kirby writing songs together...didn't exactly set the world on fire, although I enjoyed the montage of Kirby desperately trying to write something. Are we meant to know where Leah's gone? I felt like we were but I'm drawing a blank, unless she's seeking help in secret.

For all his acting like having a family is the most important thing to him, Tane seemed to slip back into bachelor playboy mode pretty quickly. I'll say this for him, he treated his one-night stand well, but he doesn't seem to care about the difficult position he's putting Mali and Mackenzie in.

I'm surprised the Carters were so understanding of the "Him or Me" sitch.

I'm not a big Bree fan (still strongly dislike her) but it took GUTS to admit it.

I have never liked Bree so you not only one

Let's be real everyone's an arse until they've had a coffee or some cases you give 'em 4, they'd still be one!

It is a bit ploddy with Flick/Tane, who most of everyone is over at this point.

Thanks for that foellfan.

I must be one of the few who haven't see Love Actually so the cue cards reference didn't click with me.   He must have been using his free coffee cards a hell of a lot, wasn't it about four/five times a day everyday so no surprise he was suffering caffeine withdrawal.  Is $4.60 expensive?   I know John can be tight sod sometimes.  He does need to be weaned off all that coffee rather than go cold turkey, he was getting high just smelling it.

JP was strict - but fair before - but not having  his usual fix certainly didn't help his mood and Banjo - really -  was being particularly annoying.  Unless there is a very good reason for turning up late to a Life Saving course  you shouldn't be there, you're going to be  a team  and rely on each other.  I thought it would be Dana causing bother but it was him.  Dana does know John and knows the kinder side of him.

Maybe gut instinct for Tane  to revert to his bad boy days.   Relieved Mali didn't accompany him.   Tane did say to Mali he loved Felicity but hated her at the same time.  Or would that be what she had done and that there was no coming back from it?   Not anything to do with Mali really who Tane asks back but it is Mac's place so she ought to be aware, where was she btw at work already?  Would it be their place to say anything to her when Flick rings them? He did apologise to Harper about his previous snappiness but then after starting her off,  he had another go but then she was being distracted by Dana wandering in and started chatting to her.

Justin, you dork, he's getting Theo looking up  Wedding Venues but as yet he and Leah haven't even decided on an actual date which would be kind of helpful.  I know he's still supposed to be recuperating but what else is he doing?  He did come across Leah's looking up causes of insomnia but natch  in the trailer she said she 'was fine'. ?  Luckily he didn't believe her and got her to admit what was really going on.  Was that a dream she was having or was she being run over for real?

Kirby and Theo - it was good to see them singing from the same sheet so to speak - eventually.   Theo was at first trying too hard.  Writers get writers block so I guess lyricists get lyricists block.   They both acknowledged they are adult enough to get through  the fact they are no longer an item and can work together.

Around £2.30, which is pretty good by UK prices (about on par with a cappuccino from Greggs).

That's bloody reasonable, what with the COLC going on at the minute with shops/restaraunts et al JACKING UP their prices! Buggers....

On today's a slightly better ep, a nice breather from two couples who have had an awful lot of screentime.

Palmer aplogising to Man Bun under duress (Why is it that ALMOST every character with one is INSUFFERABLE? but this guy was an exception)

Leah, you gotta slow down or they'll ship you in a wagon in a white jacket!

$8k for a throwaway song, Nice if you can get it!

Alf saying there's been a complaint of bullying made against John is a bit rich given that John could probably make a similar complaint against Alf a lot of the time.(In fact, I seem to recall he did and Roo had to play peacemaker.)But fair's fair, he swallowed his pride and made the phone call, which is probably all that was needed.I guess it's not how much an individual cup of coffee costs but the fact that he's been drinking it in bulk: Multiply that amount a few times and you're looking at the equivalent of around £10 a day and around £3650 a year.

Marilyn was an utter wet lettuce: It did get to the point where it was unfair to ask Irene or Leah to give her time off, but why on earth didn't she correct Irene when she assumed she was asking for more shifts? It's hard to shake the feeling that sooner or later everyone will bend over backwards to accommodate her.

At least the show addressed the question of why Kirby's getting money for a song she signed over the rights to, although we didn't get an explanation beyond "Because she is." Otherwise, it seemed like she and Theo were just talking about nothing.

Leah's resembling a tightly coiled spring now. No real explanation for why she lied to Justin about where she'd been, presumably she's not still going to see Bree and then ignoring her advice. Anyway, at least she's opened up to Justin by the end, so hopefully we can move forward.

And even then I was going for a 'lower-end' high street chain coffee - you can certainly add another quid or more on for one of the independent places adorned with distressed wood where you're served by ManBun Banjo (not that I drink it anyway).

The diner menu hasn't changed in 14 years, so maybe their prices haven't either... ?‍♂️

How did the Hipster burn his tongue? He Drank his coffee before it was cool!

(I'm 'ere *all* week!?)

Talking of Coffee, I still get laughs out of the following exchanges

"More Coffee Mr Bedford?"

"If I have anymore Coffee, I shall start *levitating*!"

or more recently

Alf: *to a zoned out Marilyn* You gonna grind those beans or meditate 'em into the cup?
