So...can a magistrate actually do that then? Find a defendant not guilty of a crime they've already pleaded guilty to and are supposed to be being sentenced for? It felt a bit like he was exceeding his authority, but then the whole thing was a farce from beginning to end. I guess the charges against Harper were dropped because Filmore had already made a fool of himself once advocating for a strong punishment for a ludicrous charge and didn't want to be humiliated again. Anyway, I'm pleased for both of them, and I did like how delighted Harper and Dana were for Irene as well as for themselves (again, there's that feeling that "found family" is still a strong part of Home and Away even if it's not really "fostering" as such). John was an absolute darling and just what Irene needed, and I appreciated him referring to her as his "best mate".

I wondered the same about the Magistrate, but felt like Harper’s charges were just dropped because people probably aren’t invested in her enough to care if she went to prison.

I was expecting Irene to talk about how she’s opened her home to many people in need of help, but maybe adding that in with her criminal record might have been too much acknowledgement that the show existed outside of the present day.

I could understand Remi questioning Kirby's loyalty with Forrest and the contacts at first, she didn't necasarrily have a right to be peeved at that, she'd promised loyalty once before but was led happily away by a stranger offering candy so's to speak!

I did like Tane's gestures about giving up coffee and alcohol when the time came, some men do do it and I think it's nice, also love getting culture lessons, I think it's always good to learn something!

Like Felicity, I never wanted children, but I wouldn't make her mistake of staying in a relationship with a guy who did; yes, he did say she'd be enough but then how many times has either of them said things to each other about honesty that they didn't mean?

I think everyone's guility of it, even down to silly things sometimes!Felicity's tantrum throwing proves a point really, it's everyone's fault but her own in her eyes and she can always use her past as a get-out-card, not this time; I think Mac was caught between a rock and a hard place but she did the right thing. She gave Felicity a chance, she didn't take it but even then she didn't actually say anything on the subject just gave Tane the honest advice...'Talk to your wife'.

Cash's words to Eden about spending his life clearing up after Felicity struck a chord; when you have a person like her in your life, difficult, embarrassing etc. you know that that's your lot and, sometimes as much as you love them, you can grow to really dislike that part of it. (Wayyy too much personal experience!) So Flick then trying to act like Cash has abondoned her really was childish, she needs to realise at some point in life you do have to grow up and take responsibility for decsions, good or bad.

Tane is clearly hurting and needs to deal with that part of it first, that's space and time and if Mac helps him, it's not really Flick's business; she's a business partner and 'mate' rather than friend I think. Mac isn't taking sides but I think she has a stronger bond with Tane because of the things they've been through together, also in a different universe she might well have been his sister-in-law by now.

I think sadly Tane and Flick were doomed because they ran away with the ideal of 'we love each other so, of course,  both of us can manipulate the other to get our way if we ignore it long enough' Lies in a marriage are always the dealbreaker, also neither wanted to face the temporary heartbreak of a split each time either one backed off even though I think, deep down, they both knew it would be a stumbling block. Deception is different to circumstance, I think if they had been n actual problem as in medical; I think he would grieve perhaps but they'd be in it together, slightly different as there is nothing to be done, or difficult options but it would be a team effort.

The punch was well choreographed; I always think with those Ethan/Nic scenes, given their friendship, that Nic says to him 'Really go for it, don't worry!' an reminds me of an infamous double slap some years ago in a certain British soap, the actress who was the slapee said to the slapper 'rReally hit me, make me feel it', she did, needless to say, knocked her earring off!

If Cash was still a cop but  hit while off duty would that still apply about Tane assaulting a cop?

I'm guessing the magistrate read through all the relevant evidence/papers so that is why he made the decision he did.  The proof that  Madden was in fact guilty came out came out after Irene's arrest - didn't it? It was certainly good news, but Dana did kind have to nag Harper into ringing her lawyer to find out what her fate was going to be.  Good news for Dana too, she's on the books of the local Nursing Agency, now it's just  Harper that needs to find a job.  John for all he can be a galah, is  a great friend to have in your corner.  It will take Irene, Harper and Dana a little while to get through what they have.

Roo, didn't you learn anything from your last dealings  involving the local press!? No, apparently not, she had to stick her neb in and decide she was going to be Alf and answer the questions put to him by the reporter, be interesting to see how she handles some of them.  Alf will so not be a happy bunny.  That was a quick trip to and back to Merimbula, didn't he only leave the day before Irene's sentencing?  Nice little scenes with Alf  and Mali, Alf looking  a tad embarrassed with his plaque as he still feels it's not all about him but what the Surf Club stands for.   Would I be right in thinking OG stands for Old Guard?  Nice touch Mali thanking Alf for pretending to be surprised.  'm guessing Alf has been updated on Irene's news?

I suppose it makes sense Leah's only just having nightmares about her and Justin's experience with VIta Nova, as before she was staying by Justin's bedside and hardly sleeping.   But why oh why is she going to be another one who says "I'm fine" when asked if if everything is OK with them.   The way she snapped at Rose proved she isn't 'fine'.  I was thinking about the same thing about the security cameras.   Rose didn't give anything away when she spoke to Mali about how not everything is sorted when a crime has been solved.   Justin, as we saw, is home, will he being having flashbacks?

I think I know the one you mean - Sally & Natalie in Corrie?

Ah right that was fabulous, but I was thinking Pat/Peggy/Frank in Eastenders!

Today's comedy contast with Mali/Alf and Theo/Justin had me in hysterics, poor Theo!

Though Roo isn't necasarrily making the right choices right now, this and the car keys escapde struck me as, though I doubt it was intended by TPTB, we're being reminded of the fact that Roo was the original teen tearaway which, in once sense is a nice nod! Loved Alf's headline too!

See my answer last time you asked that question:

As for Madden, he was arrested and jailed long before Irene and Harper were. It's ridiculous they were arrested and charged at all, even more ridiculous that it took until the sentencing hearing for someone to realise how ludicrous and trumped-up the charges were and get them dismissed, and then seemingly only because Irene made an impassioned speech at the last minute.

Anyway, today! Well, it's not a surprise to anyone that Alf wasn't particularly happy about Roo going behind his back. It was unfair of Roo to manipulate Mali into helping her, resulting in him getting it in the neck at least as much as she did. Alf seemed pretty resigned to it, not even objecting to Roo's "sorry not sorry" and the fact she almost certainly didn't try to stop it being printed. I do appreciate that he's being more even-handed these days and didn't let Marilyn off the hook for standing there and doing nothing.

Justin's back and he and Leah seem in a good place. (I'm trying to think if there's any other obvious overseas family I'm missing and drawing a bit of a blank. Where was Alex last time we heard of him?) Theo was a bit put-upon here as Justin's errand boy but seemingly did an okay job despite causing the jeweller to give him a wide berth. But Leah's still having nightmares and is now getting paranoid about Rose as well, which has got Justin suspicious...

Either Greece or Cyprus and Leah went to visit him after he injured himself playing  soccer a few years ago.

I've been combing through the last few years in discussion topics where I may of mentioned it but too lazy to search at the minute.

Sometimes that is the way the wheels of justice run, slowly and take time to get up to date  of what is actually the truth.  At the time Irene was arrested Dana was on the run so she was guilty of what she was charged of.  Wasn't Madden arrested  and then charged after Irene's arrest? ?

Roo obviously forgot  a lot of newspapers do have online editions before the real paper comes out so she was busted.  So glad Alf apologised to Mali as he was duped by Roo as well when she lied about the photo being for the Surf Club newsletter.

Guess, Irene, Harper, Dana and John have done their three days so having their 'rest' before their next stint.

OK last time Justin came home which wasn't that long ago,  Leah hardly let him move off the sofa, fussing over him constantly, this time apart from making sure he was  comfortable and causing Theo much embarrassment, she just let him alone.  Then later the same day they went off to SALT to have their Engagement meal where he'd have to walk up all those stairs.

Poor Theo getting roped in to buy the ring, made a good choice though.  Would have been very cringe worthy him feeling he had to tell the jeweller he was buying it for his aunt. ?

OK Rose you have got the right instincts and want to help Leah but not a good idea  pushing her to speak about something  she doesn't want to talk about yet so back off as Leah will just clam up even more.  No Justin, it's not anything you have done or haven't done, it's what is running round Leah's mind.  We know if it was someone else going through he same thing Leah would be getting them to open up about but tis always the way when it's 'you' you shut down and say "I'm fine".

I'm guessing Leah mentioned VJ and Luc or did I just miss their names?  I'm thinking Dimitri won't be on the guest list?? How's about Brody, Simone and  baby Mason?  Any guesses as to whom we think Justin will want as his best man?  If Brody can't make it for whatever reason I think it'll be Theo.

No and no. Irene wasn't arrested until the last episode before the Christmas break, long after Madden had been caught and Dana had been cleared.

There's an interesting parallel with the beginning of the season here: Just as Justin was the one who had the hardest time coping with Leah being impaled in front of him, Leah is the one who's more traumatised by seeing Justin near death for so long. She does ask Bree for help, but just as she insisted Justin coming home would solve everything, she's looking for a quick fix instead of accepting she needs long-term help.

Alf continuing to be frosty with Marilyn continues to be oddly enjoyable for me, since it's a nice change from him refusing to hold her accountable for anything.Of course, Roo's more responsible but she only tends to get two episodes a week these days...

Comeback for Lyrik! There was some nice character humour in there, from Remi's bossy take charge attitude, to Theo increasingly being swept along by events. Kirby was in full-on go-getter mode with Xander, who I guess has a point that if Mackenzie and Felicity are going to disappear and leave him to run things, they can't complain too much about how he runs it!
