2023 Season - UK Episode Discussion

Tuesday - So, Theo and Kirby are off 'up the coast' as well now - and honestly, I can't blame them - what a dumpster-fire of a situation. I think the show is right not to let Justin off the hook for what he did; I don't condone vigilantism; but I also think it's a nuanced situation; he did think Ava was in danger and so arguably his behaviour was initially in defence of her, thought it clearly went too far and went on too long. Anyway, at least the Conor bloke is not seriously injured, which should limit the extent of the consequences, although he does (understandably) seem to want Justin held accountable. Maybe when he cools down and finds out about Ava's text he'll be moved to drop the charges, but because the police witnessed it I don't know if that's even possible now?

Glad John didn't let his pride affect his relationship with Mali for too long, although I was half-expecting him to get some kind of farewell video message from Dean or whatever. Probably more realistic that he didn't, to be honest.

Wednesday - Good to see Ava finally taking some responsiblity, even if things have had to become pretty parlous to prompt the wake-up call. However, I don't buy that the abandonment issues she spoke about as regards Justin, while maybe having some validity in themselves, really explain or justify her strange behaviour towards Theo, and I think that needs to be examined separately before everyone can move on.

Finally, some movement on Remi and Bree. And I'm actually glad we're moving to this Tane/Flick wedding tomorrow, too - heaven knows it's dragged on long enough already, so time to get it done with, I think.

Thursday - Felicity was annoying - couldn't she have just phoned Cash and Eden rather than hammering on their bedroom door when they were obviously indisposed until forced to emerge? I suppose we're supposed to find this behaviour endearing but it just comes across as attention-seeking. Still, she redeemed herself a bit by putting so much effort into the Māori vows, and by not having yet another pre-wedding meltdown.

Well, Remi knows, and he responded a lot better than I expected him to, so that's good. I was imagining he'd give Bree grief about sleeping with Jacob and/or about having the termination - but he wins brownie points on both scores.

Friday - I suppose I ought to say happy 8000th, and it felt like about as much of an occasion as we could've expected in the modern era. I thought the wedding ceremony was really nicely done; we've had a million beach weddings before so I was definitely pleased at the last-minute switcharound. Less excited by the Lyrik gig; and a daft cliffhanger - presumably now we have another potential wedding to mope and angst over?

Maz had made a cake so why wasn't she, Irene and John invited albeit belatedly?

It speaks volumes that none of the old guard were invited to the afterparty; but it also speaks volumes that they don't particularly feel like omissions either, as none of them have more than a perfunctory relationship with any of these characters. And that's the real and enduring problem, rather than that they weren't invited to the shindig.

We all know Justin will get Community Service under the supervision of John Palmer ?

Sad to see Dean disappear up the coast with Ziggy, who knows where they are living or what they are doing? It always amuses me when characters get jobs in Perth or London etc and have to start the very next day. Maybe it's an Australian thing?

Good ep.

Though if I wanted to get Eden back if she pulled that crap, I'd played no hard feelings, have a round 2 of a session, be doing shots, mine being lemonade, then the next day she wakes up as Mrs John Palmer No 4?

Sucks for Xander and Rando Colleague. Sad thing is People actually do things like that in real life;  Bogusly Call Emergency Services and attack.

Have you not been watching?  If so you'd know why they went so quickly.

Of course I've been watching, he moved to be closer to his son. But you plan out a move like that not just leave the next day lol. It's not like Dean saw Jai on a daily basis and had time.

If anyone should relax around here it's you as you're obviously starting to get wound up again.?

Despite them not showing it, I still thought it was just as powerful hearing that those guys attacked Xander and the other paramedic.  It was sad that he died.  Bree was right that Xander's lucky it didn't end up worse for him.  I'm curious to know if they actually put up any form of resistance or whether they just handed over the drugs and were beaten anyway.  Hopefully the cops will find the people that did this and they will go to jail for good.

Again the vomit inducing Cash and Eden.  Remi had a point in that if she loves him why would she pretend they got engaged just as a 'joke' or purely because she didn't like that he lied and wasn't adult enough to be straight with him.  She's so annoying but I knew Cash would forgive her in record time.  I don't find them funny, I don't find then cute and when they are all over each other I want them off the screen.

I think they probably decided after Justin going Klitschko last week, enough on-screen biffing was enough or 7 must have had a word.

But this is soapland so of course people can do just that.  At least they were just moving up country and not flying to the other side of the world in a day, without getting viable visa's, which you need to be able to enter the States, be able to get a plane ticket on Bella's flight just like that.

Not getting you there Slade  I wasn't getting wound up.?

It was more effective not seeing the attack, leaving it all to our imaginations which can be much more powerful.  definitely a  a feeling as soon as the ambulance puled up it was a dodgy area with the graffiti on the walls, definitely a ?, when they pulled up what with the graffiti on the walls, but I guess they don't have a choice of not attending in case the call is genuine.   I guess there must be guidelines paramedics have to follow in a situation like that, as in let them take what they want and not put your life in danger by trying to stop them.   Same as guards who carry cash are told to let them take it.  But as we know from reading the news some do fight back.  The gang seemed hyper anyway so may have just taken it out on Xander and Jamie just for the hell of it.  Xander certainly reacted very strongly when he came round after his op, kicking Bree across the room seeing as we know, but no-one else does, she has just had her op.  What could have happened to make him behave that way, couldn't have been drugged himself could he? We know how fragile Xander can be so who knows how this will affect him.   Cash seemed a much tougher guy and look how his being shot and finding how he'd killed the biker  affected him.   Do Aus paramedics have body cams or do their ambulances have dash cams?

Looks like Rose has dashed off to do her Lone Ranger impression.  Until Xander comes round properly and able to give an account of what happened not  a lot the cops can do and she wouldn't be allowed to take any part in the investigation.

It may have been a laugh initially for Eden to let Cash think he'd proposed but she did carry it on a bit too far.  Are we supposed to gather from all that he isn't averse to the idea at some time in the future?  Get a different ring though.

Following on from my comment about the oldies not being invited to the Wedding bash John brought it up to an admittedly very hung over Cash who had little of an explanation.  It isn't often we see even a tipsy Cash so to see him in that state was eye opening even if his weren't. ?‍?

The stuff with Cash and Eden was stupid

I don’t think Tane and Felicity should have gotten married they aren’t really suited to that lifestyle really I don’t think

How much money is Marilyn looking to make for Jetts wedding?

They have sedated Xander haven’t they not placed him in a coma so why on earth has he been asleep for days? Rosé caught the drug dealer but where were these other units she was radioing for backup

I wouldn’t mind seeing Justin go to prison just so the story wasn’t so predictable
