2023 Season - UK Episode Discussion

I feel like Justin should have put Mackenzie's offer to all of the band together (hospital stays not withstanding), rather than telling Theo and Kirby and leaving them to get Remi on board, including presenting it as their idea.I had a bit of sympathy for Remi, even if he was a bit over the top at times, the band's his life and, despite reassurances, this is going to feel like losing it.When he ran into Mackenzie, I was sure she was going to let something slip before the others could tell him, but she handled it well. So, Remi made about the only decision he could and, yes, we were told that Eden had agreed off screen, so all systems go. I do appreciate that no-one pushed the point too much and they weren't willing to go ahead without a unanimous decision. As for Gabe, I kind of just think he's...there. He didn't seem to do anything today except stand next to Mackenzie in scenes that didn't really require him.

There was a bit of a touch of heads you lose, tails you lose with Ziggy here. She was worried that Ms Thompson wouldn't accept the bottle, meaning she still wouldn't get any sleep, then when it worked she looked as though she was thinking "Oh.That's the one thing I was needed for gone then." Justin points out that the farm's meant to be pretty isolated, so where has she gone? Some more humour with Dean well and truly out of his comfort zone buying breast pumps.

We hardly ever saw all of the band together before Eden and Remi's accidents so that would have been tricky.   Mac nearly slipped up and made the usual assumption Remi knew what had been discussed, but as said she covered it well.   Could understand his initial emphatic refusal, even Kirby couldn't coax him round, but Mac did change his mind so good for her.  That was a nice touch that although it was a majority decision to go ahead Theo and Kirby said they wouldn't go ahead it he didn't agree. Theo and Kirby playing as a duo will keep Lyrik in their fans eye and earn them some money.  Gabe wisely didn't interfere leaving it to Mac.

Theo had to fess up to Kirby on getting the donuts from his obsessive fan.

Who would have thought that back in 2018 when we first met Dean he would have the foresight to contact the midwife to ask for help Ziggy to get some rest at night.   The River Boy we knew then,  who came in to track Robbo down and nearly killed him, would never have done that.  The thought of him going into a shop and buying breast pumps which must have been embarrassing for him ?shows how much he has grown.  I can see why he asked Mac though of course she wouldn't have  a clue. So lovely seeing him feeding babe.? It was a double edged sword though making Ziggy feel she wasn't that wanted that much even if she must have welcomed getting  a good night's sleep to be more on the ball.    She is a new first time mum and not all of them are super mums like you see on social media  which gives a totally false impression.  It is worrying her going missing no ide where she is, not answering her phone.  It has been hinted at on the Aus site what she may be going through.

Leah seems to have made a miraculous recovery since we last saw her, hardly able to walk last week and now she's off to Cyprus!  Did laugh at her stocking up the fridge/freezer to stop Justin and Theo living on take outs.?  I can see why Justin said no to going with her, he's got the band to sort out, a  garage, glad he's remembered he's got one, to run and needs to be there for Theo. It wouldn't be a good idea to leave him alone never mind he's not a  kid and old enough to be there on his own.

Perish the thought!

I'm in no way suggesting that everyone should keep a keen eye on Justin's movements in the coming weeks... where he is and what he's buying, for example... ??

Not much to add on tonight's episode - a relief to see Ziggy is unharmed and then taking Irene's advice on board and beginning to relax/bond a little with the baby. Other than that, the Greek chorus seemed to be on board purely to keep everyone else topped up with coffee and sympathetic noises.

Yes, good that Ziggy was found quickly and with minimal fuss.Justin did the right thing letting her sleep, Dean wasn't quite so considerate! Is the garage meant to be close to the farm or something? Otherwise, the question of how Ziggy got there without a car remains, and everyone even assumed she'd been asleep all the time she'd been missing, as if she instantly teleported there! Ah well, at least "Baby Thompson" finally get a name, and after all that fuss about a surname a few months back, Dean decides to go for a hyphenated one after all.Despite Ziggy claiming Isabella was named after a surfer, I wonder if they had Bella in mind? Marilyn is quick to get her hands on someone else's child again, a trait that has become even more uncomfortable now we know she'll get her claws into any baby apart from the one she actually should have looked after.

Not much else going on aside from Leah demonstrating that even major surgery won't slow her down (in more ways than one!) and Rose and Mali managing to move past the awkwardness, if only to a different type of awkwardness.Rose's claim that Xander is her only sibling is technically true but it feels like the show has forgotten (or wants us to) that they were introduced as Jasmine's new family: I'd hope they'd still be in touch with her despite her bailing from the Bay.

Well, I watched this episode at lunchtime and abjectly failed to take in a single thing that happened. So I tried again this evening, in the hope of finding something I could say, and still couldn't tell you anything - other than that Eden was moping and Cash was moping and John wants to overhaul the Surf Club IT infrastructure. So, guess I'll go back to watching that paint dry.

I did enjoy John's line about the budgie-smugglers, though. Whoever said this show doesn't do nostalgia!

I must admit I didn't really get the budgie smugglers joke. Was it meant to be a reference to the old yellow surf club uniforms?

Cash really should have read the room.I can understand him wanting to go and see Eden, but he should have realised nothing had changed and stopped pushing it instead of trying to force his help on her.Of course, now it seems Eden is starting to remember things, not that she's particularly overjoyed about it.I guess it must be freaky to suddenly remember things you didn't, well, remember, especially out of context.

Dean talking to Tane about how it was for Ziggy when he had his accident was a bit close to the bone, given that Ziggy was actually with Tane when Dean had his accident, even if she did swap back very quickly afterwards! Anyway, could be some forward momentum there. Mali still seems to be on the fence about Dean's job offer and it's right he talks it over with his family.

Nikau doesn't understand what Y2K means: Don't you feel old? (Not that John was in Summer Bay at the time, of course...) Last time John challenged Alf over the surf club, we were meant to automatically see him as in the wrong, so see how it plays out this time...

When Mackenzie offered Dean/Ziggy/Karen a meal on the house, I thought Gabe was going to say something.  I don't know what it is but something about him just bothers me.  I know we've only seen the business side but he just doesn't seem that nice.

Loved John calling Karen 'Grandma'.  She really didn't like that.

"I wasn't a ray of Sunshine either" - When is Dean ever a ray of Sunshine?

I found the stuff with Cash and Eden amusing.  I feel whilst Eden is remembering what is happening with Cash she doesn't recall having feelings for him, so it's like how she was before she fancied him and thinking about them together kind of turns her stomach.  And Cash seems genuinely bemused she's not head over heels.
