Yeoman Rand Posted August 4, 2021 Report Posted August 4, 2021 Hello everyone. This is my first post, even though I’ve been watching Home and Away for years (on 5 Star). Anyway a friend and I talk about it a lot and are wondering why some weeks the characters say Ari and others Arti? Does anyone know? Ari/Arti has called himself Ari when leaving notes for his family and I heard him recently on the phone saying “it’s Arti”.
Little bean Posted August 4, 2021 Report Posted August 4, 2021 Welcome! I don’t think anyone has ever called him Arti. I think his name is pronounced with a rolled “r” in his native Kiwi tongue. Some characters just say it straight without the roll and others use it. I think the rolled version may be what sounds like a “t” to you.
homeandawayroxsomuch. Posted August 5, 2021 Report Posted August 5, 2021 Ari, short for Ariki according to the caption in this photo that Rob Kipa-Williams posted when Ari first appeared https://www.instagram.com/p/B5XfTBbJLJ-/?hl=en
Yeoman Rand Posted August 9, 2021 Author Report Posted August 9, 2021 Thank you to both Little Bean (that makes so much sense ) and homeandawayroxsomuch. I’ll read the article.
