seph12 Posted August 30, 2005 Report Posted August 30, 2005 Gosh, Grey's Anatomy is popular in Auss hey? There has only been one episode in the UK and it was on Living Tv. I'm finding it interesting that so many american shows such as Lost and Grey's Anatomy are so far ahead in Auss than they are in the UK . I mean Auss have already had season 1 of Lost. How many episodes of GA have there been. It's great to hear H&A rating so well !

Andy Posted September 2, 2005 Report Posted September 2, 2005 Bronzed Aussies tip news ratings battle National Business Review (New Zealand) 2 September 2005 A big part of TV3's recent success in attracting young urban audiences from One News is the attraction of two Australian teen soaps - Home & Away and Neighbours - as lead-ins. The beach-bronzed young Aussies in TV3's Home & Away are having a big impact on which news is watched. TV3 programmer Beverly McGarvey confirmed, "One part of the growing ratings for 3 News is due to the big success of its 5.30pm show Home & Away," which sometimes attracts up to 60% of the audience and delivers a lot of young viewers to the news. The low-cost soap sometimes has more than 250,000 viewers, a respectable amount in prime time, and typically delivers four times as many Aucklanders as Headliners. TVNZ acknowledges Home & Away has been "rating gangbusters" in Australia. The slide for early prime time was "part of the normal swings and roundabouts in a competitive industry," spokeswoman Megan Richards said. Even some in the industry, outside CanWest MediaWorks, say TV3's gains are due to the scheduling of another Aussie soap - Neighbours - on TV2. Earlier this year TVNZ moved Neighbours from 5.30pm to 5pm. TV3 immediately switched Home & Away to 5.30pm. A young audience used to watching a soap immediately before the news moved to TV3. With their TVs already on 3, they stuck with 3 News. Ms McGarvey said: "Home & Away did well at 5pm with a share of around 45% of viewers but increased to 60% share after the change."

In terms of UK soaps on terrestrial, it draws much more than family affairs does, has about the same number of viewers as hollyoaks and does far less than neighbours (which still draws north of 5 million for it's 2 daily screenings combined; H&A's 12.30's usually do 400-500 thousand) Information from www.barb.co.uk
loveangelmusicbaby Posted September 20, 2005 Report Posted September 20, 2005 I bought this weeks copy of TV Week. I was looking at what shows made the top 10 from about 2 weeks ago and Home and Away is in there! I haven't seen it there since the stalker storyline. It came in at number 8 I think, with about 1.3 or something million viewers. Dancing with the Stars came first. So Yay go Home and Away!
Krazy Karl Posted September 20, 2005 Report Posted September 20, 2005 It was number 9 last week as well!!!
