Miss Peg Posted June 24, 2005 Report Posted June 24, 2005 I hope this hasn't been posted...or at least, recently. I did try to do a search but it won't let me do 2 letters. Sorry if it has been posted/discussed before. I've been thinking about when the UK catch up with Home and Away. It's bound to happen. We have an episode every single day of the week, of the year, even Christmas day. With no break at Christmas we catch up about 4 weeks, right? With the Australian break. But what about when we catch up so much that we're only about a month or two away, like Neighbours. Do you think we'll get a 4 week break during Christmas like Australia? Or will we get 2 weeks at Christmas and 2 weeks in the summer, like Neighbours? Anyone got any theories how they'll stop us catching up too much?
Cat3 Posted June 24, 2005 Report Posted June 24, 2005 Yes this as been done before somewhere and i remember someone saying that 2008 will be the year when channel 5 catches up.
buzzword Posted June 24, 2005 Report Posted June 24, 2005 No I don't want repeats of the Sutherland era! I just watched that like two years ago! I would LOVE if someone woul show the 1995/96/97 episodes, they have to be my favourite, with Saul's cult and Stephanie's possesion etc. Does anyone know what Five will do when we catch up? Will we have a permanent one-month gap with Australia or will it be the same day, cos technically Australia would still be ahead, but only by a few hours lol!
Dan F Posted June 24, 2005 Report Posted June 24, 2005 We are still catching up, I think someone worked out we would be on par around 2010 When ITV got dangerously close they dropped the Friday episode
James Martin Posted June 24, 2005 Report Posted June 24, 2005 2008 is when we're supposed to catch up... it's also an Olympic year. We will start 2008 one month behind, catching up two weeks during the Olympic break. The end of 2008 is the first place that Five will have no option but to break. I doubt that Five will drop one episode a week because of the way they currently strive to get the weekend cliffhangers always on a Friday night. My betting is that we'll either: 1. Get an Xmas break after 2008, and 2009 will run in sync with Oz or 2. Five will take an Xmas break from the end of 2006/7 to preserve the gap.
Krazy Karl Posted June 24, 2005 Report Posted June 24, 2005 You never know... if Five aren't careful, you guys could be watching them a week before they get filmed
Eerik Posted July 17, 2005 Report Posted July 17, 2005 Estonia From Monday to Friday on Kanal 2 (Channel 2) one episode per day with male voiceover. But in summer time (June, July, August) 2 episodes per day (monday-friday). Tomorrow are episodes 2948-2949 so we are a bit behind from other countries. (Sorry for bad English)
Cat123 Posted July 17, 2005 Report Posted July 17, 2005 We seem to be getting closer with H&A and further away with Neighbours!!! It's because the BBC and Channel 7 seem to stop showing for stuff (like the Olympics)
c120701 Posted July 17, 2005 Report Posted July 17, 2005 I think Five will take it off air for four weeks (or is it six) at Christmas like Oz and two weeks in the summer. I think it would be good if five ran it so that we are only about an episode behind or maybe a week, so that we get the end of season cliffhangers at Christmas and then the opener actually would be weeks later. In the meantime, we could have a Back to the Bay like show but review of the year, what's happened to each character etc... or maybe just ITV style repeats, with Sally or Alf introducing the show from Summer Bay House or the Diner and they could show, Sally's non-wedding, the diner burning down, the mudslide, Ailsa's death, the Mirigini disaster, Sally's wedding, the 2004 season finale, (eventually the 4000th episode) etc... It would also be good for getting new viewers.
