James Martin Posted April 9, 2005 Report Posted April 9, 2005 Do any other countries get the episodes on the "correct" days, that is: xxx1 or xxx6 on a Monday xxx2 or xxx7 on a Tuesday xxx3 or xxx8 on a Wednesday xxx4 or xxx9 on a Thursday xxx5 or xxx0 on a Friday This happens in Australia obviously, but I think the UK is the only other country that operates like this.
agurkis Posted April 9, 2005 Report Posted April 9, 2005 No, we don't get them on the right day.. We used to be 'one day ahead', like having the Friday ep on a Monday, but since they took it off for one day a few times, I have no idea which day we get on a Friday for instance, anylonger!

South Africa appears to be showing the episodes on the correct days at the moment, but last year they weren't - Friday's episodes used to go out on a Wednesday.
ultra345 Posted April 10, 2005 Report Posted April 10, 2005 Si-Co is right, SA episodes go out on the right day. I doubt this will happen for much longer, because GO (the channel which broadcasts H&A) have made quite a few mess-ups with episodes in the past - a few weeks ago, they skipped an entire episode! (which was ok with me, cos the storyline was pretty boring at that time! )

(which was ok with me, cos the storyline was pretty boring at that time!? ) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That's happened twice (sort of four times) on ITV. Two skips were for content reasons - a school hostage in 1996 and a child abduction in 1998. ITV also pulled an evening screening - Dale's death to be exact - in 1994 to show UEFA cup football. They then cancelled another evening showing during the 1998 World Cup due to a game running into extra time. On both these occasions the recap of the follwing episode was extended by including extra scenes in the affected episode. There was, of course, where extra time meant that Central had to reschedule H&A from 6pm to 5.30pm at the last minute so the entire network could run the ITN news at 6pm. (Most regions showed H&A at 5.10pm with all of them having the ITN news at 5.40) - the following day Central regionally re-edited the next episode by cutting out various scenes (for timing purposes) but then lengthening the recap by including scenes from the rescheduled episode, which I thought was quite a decent thing to do! I never understood why they didn't pull H&A totally for France '98 (like the Beeb had done with Neighbours) given that at the time we were only one month behind Australia anyway, which we could easily catch back up with at Christmas time. During 2002's WC they did pull Crossroads (which was occupying the slots once held by H&A) - and interestingly they did run a big cliffhanger with it (Phil's violent father Brian escaped from prison) like H&A do for the Olympics.
