What can we expect from the 30th anniversary?

Happy 29th birthday today Home And Away. 1 year to go to the Big 30. So a year left to predict what will happen for the anniversary.

If they did something on the scale of Neighbours 30th anniversary, it would be amazing. They are bound to do something surely. I'd be disappointed if we didn't see Sally, Pippa and some of the other cast from the 80s and 90s especially. I would be very surprised if they could top the Neighbours return of Madge and Harold though. But who knows... The series has been moving gradually in the right direction over the past year or so.

They seem to be moving away from their past so I will be surprised if we see many returns in 2018. Unless Lucy Addario has moved on since then.

In 2018 we will also see Episode 7000. I wonder if it will be referenced?

I have seen a Brax and Ricky Wedding mentioned, however I have high doubts of that due to the fact that Steve Peacocke has practically ruled out a return to the soap.

I think now that the Braxton era is over (Heath and Bianca are a guest role, they won't last too much longer), the writers will focus on the anniversary and hopefully bring the show back to what it was like from 1988-2008 where old characters returning was a bit more regular and the returns weren't ones with twists which ruined characters (the return of Will Smith). (I understand there was returns from 2009 onwards, but ever since Sally left there has barely been any celebratory returns of note)

What I would like to see is a return of characters from all eras of the show. Instead of just the veterans (your Sally's, your Pippa's, your Carly's, your Frank's etc.) I feel like they should look to bringing back characters who are more recent but at the same time have been gone for a long time. Characters like Miles (who I am sure we all would love to come back), Geoff (who recently stated that he would return if they wanted him back), Ric (the forgotten grandson of Alf Stewart), Matilda (who from what I understand is one of the most popular teenage girls to ever appear on the soap, judging from the polls), Nicole (another really popular teenage girl from the show) and Angelo (probably one of the more controversial characters of all time, I'd like to see him return just to see what Angelo's turned into). 

But as always in Home and Away there is bound to be controversy and I personally want to these things happen

1. Assuming that VJ and Leah are still in the bay, Vinnie never died and suddenly walks through the front door of the Summer Bay House. I actually think that this would be one of the craziest things to ever happen on the soap.
2. Assuming Olivia is still in the bay, Jesse McGregor is released from jail and Olivia sees him. Considering he was responsible for her being an orphan, this would be insane
3. Martha makes a return to the bay after being on the run, would be crazy for her and Roo and Alf to be reunited

She's the public face of the people behind the camera, whether misplaced or not, she will cop most of the criticism. That's just the way it is.

Neither, this is about discussion of what we are hoping for in the 30th anniversary (I know it says expecting but to make things positive, what we say we expect is really what we hope)
