What can we expect from the 30th anniversary?

I would not be too keen on Donald returning for the 30th in time to die, as he has a terminal illness or something. That would work more for Floss as she was much older than Don and would be in her 80s now I think. Floss would be about 90 by 2018 as in 1988 she was said to have wed Nev in 1949.

Floss already spat in the Grim Reaper's face in 2004.

Wil be a long shot and will probably not happen but one expectation would be for the 30th, an Asian or Aboriginal family moves to the Bay and an LGBT character arrives.

Pretty sure we'll see Zoe return before that happens :(

Please no, don't kill Morag! :( That would be heartbreaking, she's one of my favorites

If they were going to kill her, i would have hoped they would bring her back for a feud with someone... (perhaps colleen if they wanted a longstanding one) for her to rip strips off them only to have a heart attack. She deserves to have a fitting ending for her character (to die in battle) than to wither away offscreen or to come back to be portrayed inconsistently.

Just did a reread of this thread because I've been neglecting it for about a month. So much reminiscing!

I kinda love the dream idea. Reset to 2005 please

There's a recurring theme here, older characters and the school, which means what we really want is for them to make the effort to integrate the shows history and older cast with the show's present and younger cast.

And what I want is Kim (duh) which is not gonna happen (double duh), so the name that keeps running through my head to tie all these elements together is Barry.

Now, I can't actually remember where Barry ended up. He could be in jail or on the run or even dead (I sometimes block stuff like that from my memory), and if he has a criminal record, there's no way he'd be allowed to work in a school again, let alone run it. (Cut to acting principal drug-convicted / murder suspect Zac...). The show has gone so far out of the realm of anything resembling legal reality that I for one would be happy to shrug it off and let the convicted murderer supervise the kiddies again :)

Barry would get the school back on track with his harsh but fair management. He'd give the kids a bit of a villain to rile against without being an actual villain. He'd fit the current tone of everyone having a dark, criminal past, and letting people get away with murder, BUT he'd be an upstanding, respectable citizen who doesn't just turn to petty crime out of habit. He'd create initial drama and controversy but have the strength of character to rise above that and resume his place as a permanent, valued resident of the Bay. Best of all, he'd give Irene something to do!!!

(And best of all for ME he could be constantly talking about Kim, and maybe Kim could send his troubled and gorgeous SORASED teenage son to live with his no-nonsense grandfather for a while ??)

Not sure how Barry's return would constitute a major 30th anniversary event, but I think his presence could fix a lot of problems with the show nicely. And maybe Irene having a relationship would be an event in itself

That's if he's still alive, of course... Which leads me to my other, much much crazier idea ...

Ghosts. All ghosts. For an entire episode. Just go totally meta with it and have a bunch of dead characters discussing the lives of the people they've been watching over in the Bay. It could be awful. It could be awesome. It'd certainly be memorable.

There's a Ghostbusters joke here somewhere :P

Ohhh yeah. And I like the idea of an older character dying to bring back some of the living characters we'd like to see. I think Colleen would be ideal. Imagine Colleen as a ghost, with unlimited access to ALL the gossip!!

Does anyone remember Neighbours' 20th anniversary? Annalise (Kimberley Davies) filmed a documentary and it featured cameos from many past characters.

What if a past character returned to do something along the lines of "Summer Bay Success stories", featuring the foster kids that have appeared over the years - not just Pippa's foster children, but also Fisher's, Alf and Ailsa's, Sally's, Irene's etc - and what they are doing today as a result of their time in Summer Bay. All of the foster kids came from broken homes and/or were on the verge of getting into trouble (not sure how to explain the latter, but use Frank as an example). I'd love to see a shapshot of what the following characters are up to in 2018: Carly, Steven, Frank, Lynn (though I doubt they'd get her back), Sally, Joey, Casey Mitchell, Justine, Liam, Curtis, Tug, Selina, Shannon, Jack, Peta (sadly, I think Edward would have died) and Jai. Though I liked them all, I don't think some of those like Liam and Casey probably would be at the top of any returnee wishlist. The "senior" cast like Donald, Travis, Joel and Natalie and Pippa could appear in the documentary too, as it is also about them and their influence.

Many other potential/likely returnees are connected to the current cast (e.g. Celia, Morag, Colleen, Finn and Damien) and could believably return in person. Many of the "one time" characters (see above for most of them), I'd be happy to see a cameo from, but the more iconic ones, like Fisher, Pippa and Sally, I'd like to have a bigger role.

I'd also like to see those iconic dead characters mentioned too: Bobby, Ailsa, Tom and Chloe (which if Olivia is still around, would be easy to do).

I agree with many people's ideas but I only have one request = bring back Sally for the 30th anniversary. She is one of the most iconic characters ever and the Bay hasn't been the same since she left.

I agree - but I'm not sure I'd want them to after the mess they made with little Pippa as the next step would surely be for her to die.
