I remember being gripped by the whole amateur sleuthing to catch Dodge, they could give some pointers to some of the bay's more recent coppers (they'd probably find Dodge and then sleep with him) And for some reason, Sally & Jack's kiss was cut by ITV... foster brother/sister too controversial?
Old H&A Fan Posted February 12, 2017 Report Posted February 12, 2017 ITV seemed to cut anything and everything for just about whatever they felt like. Maybe they were running short on time, so they decided, let's edit the best bits out so the next program isn't running late. Who knows how their minds operated. Are the ITV editors from 21 years ago still around today?
Bobby Forever Missed Posted February 13, 2017 Report Posted February 13, 2017 What a ripper of an episode today! won't say anymore in case people haven't watched it yet!
Old H&A Fan Posted February 13, 2017 Report Posted February 13, 2017 It was the last of the best episodes you'll ever see, folks! We've just now reached the end of 'Peak Home And Away'. Yes, we still have plenty of good episodes to look for in the years to come on 7TWO, yes. But it never gets quite as good as what we have just seen, and what we have seen over the past several months. 7TWO is to be congratulated for getting us this far into the series. Good work!
alexx Posted February 13, 2017 Report Posted February 13, 2017 ^I do think there's a lot more to look forward to. I don't think the show has reached it's peak at this episode - but we may have different tastes. I think the show in general was at a peak during late 94-96 with great stuff scattered throughout. I have enjoyed the 'Dodge Returns' storyline though I wish they had made Dodge less one-dimensional this time around, he was a more well rounded character last time Imo and that could have made his return a lot more gripping and engaging. It's simply Dodge is the baddy, the rest are the goodies. I'd like to have got to understand Dodge more. I don't think Sally and Jack have a romantic chemistry really so their scenes are a bit uncomfortable, albeit innocent to watch (in a good way). It actually does feel like brother and sister hooking up because of the natural brother/sister dynamic that's formed between the two of them over the past year. But I do find their relationship very endearing and sweet, it's just not coming across as romantic to me.
Homeandawayfan. Posted February 13, 2017 Report Posted February 13, 2017 I disagree that 1995 was peak H&A, well to me it wasn't. Peak H&A was several eras during the shows 29 year run. 1988-1989, 1994-1995, 2000-2004, 2008 etc.

Absolutely, I'd say that 1996 is included in the peak or renaissance. Even 1997 had some great moments, particularly in regards to the fostering theme, but wasn't as strong overall as previous years.
Skylover Posted February 16, 2017 Report Posted February 16, 2017 Loving the show. The contrast between Shane and Damian was always strong during Damian's time as a permanent Summer Bay resident, but it's odd to see just how different they have ended up - though I love that their friendship is never forgotten. I'm enjoying Travis so much more this time round. Perhaps it's because he looks like he's had a wash and a shave I have to say I find it odd that Dodge's girlfriend is the same actress who played Vicki Baxter; who is just about as memorable as Dodge, you'd think they'd have chosen another actress. Also weird to see Rebecca Fisher turning up in a Travis storyline before being Rebecca Fisher. I can already tell I'm going to like that actress though, she seems to have good screen presence. I haven't missed Shane and Angel all that much. I'm late to the party but I've also enjoyed the Stewart/Ross feud. Found it entertaining.
dees189227 Posted February 16, 2017 Report Posted February 16, 2017 So Dodge has gone. The way the landed in the water they looked like they would have broken there backs or done a massive belly flopper. But I think they should have found Dodge's body just to tie up the storyline. And do we see his girlfriend again? I still do not understand why we didn't have more Dodge/Sally scenes. Sally and Jack. I know they aren't real brother and sister but there is still an awkward feel to it. Good to see everything is right with angel, Shane and Shannon again.
Skylover Posted February 16, 2017 Report Posted February 16, 2017 Jack and Sally together seem really disturbing, not sure why.
