And for some reason they figured they had to kill Vinnie off once and for all to do this. Of course it didn't occur to them that if they then proceeded to give Elijah zero storylines or anything interesting whatsoever to do, the actor would leave. Which he did. So the whole situation (killing Vinnie off and bringing in Elijah) was both avoidable and ultimately pointless. Hm... The actor of Elijah did not leave on his own will... but was sacked when they finally found out that Elijah and Leah did not suit each other... I remember it got a bit messy after that. He said that they were not willing to give Elijah other storylines for example explore his cultural background, and then they want to get rid of him... (which was the truth I guess) and then everybody said that he had accused them of rasism... I think channel seven just did that, so they could shake of the real critisism of not giving several actors/characters real storylines outside love. There were a lot for Elijah to do. He could have started teaching or councelling, and he was a good match to Marilyn (better than John!). When they killed of Vinnie of screen they just want to get rid of his ghost once for all... So people should give Leah a chance to love someone else. Something that should have been done much earlier... I think she was very good with Dan but Vinnie being in a witness protection was destroying their romance a bit. And the witness protection was just dull and pointless since Ryan Kwanten had no plans of returning, he got a career in USA relatively quickly.

Even after becoming well known in the USA, Ryan said that if and when the time comes for Ada to leave the show, he would return for her exit storyline. The witness protection idea was created in 2004 to allow for this potential eventuality. There was no need to undo that. I don't agree that the idea of Vinnie being alive was destroying Leah or her romances but that's just my opinion. I did notice that the last time we saw Vinnie's tape (I think it was when VJ watched it) they dubbed over Ryan's voice with another actor's which is very strange as they hadn't done that in previous showings. So there may be more to the story than we know.

I remember Sophie being pregnant and giving birth to baby Tamara I started watching it around then. Back then we were only allowed to watch Home and Away when my Dad was on night shift coz he called it rubbish. Then he won a TV in a raffle at work and me and my sisters could watch it every night after that. I've been watching it ever since

I think he was saying they only had one TV at the time and when their dad was home they weren't allowed to watch it on that TV, but when he won the extra TV they could then watch it on that.
