You mean you watch 7+ via a VPN or stream via 5 but watch as if it was Australia pace (ie double episode on Thursday night)

...

Australia is ending on 8635, unusually early on Wednesday 19th November, the week the UK & Ireland were originally scheduled to come off air on.  So depending on how late Australia comes back, we may get to catch up a wee bit; it's confirmed we're back January 2nd/5th and Australia won't start back until the 12th at the very earliest.  If the Commonwealth Games also means it's a 220 episode season, we could get quite close.

EDIT: done the math.

UK hits the season finale on Thursday 19th/Friday 20th February, Ireland will see it on Monday 23rd February.

I watch on 5 via stream at Australia pace. The UK airing of the season finale/premiere is a good few weeks ahead of usual then as it is usually the first/second week of March.

As the poster said above it would be nice to be a little closer to Australian airings. I remember way back when we were one episode behind and once when an episode aired BEFORE Australia

Would there ever come a time again where the UK would be near enough neck and neck with Aus again? I assume due to the lifetime deal there will never be such plans. Just there was points in time where the UK was only like 4/5 episodes behind.

Still be a dream of mine if the UK ever came that close again.

Remember when the UK/IRELAND were only one episode behind and that infamous time when ITV screened an episode before Australia, which apparently Seven wasn't very happy about. RTE was always months ahead of ITV but ITV caught up just before it cancelled the show.

Absolutely no reason why they can't stay a comfortable two weeks behind. Even one.

There is no way we're ever going to get same day broadcast with Channel 7's scheduling the way it is. I think someone (New Zealand?) got too close earlier in the year and had to cut back. In the first half of this year, Australia only got 105 episodes, with an average of four and a third episodes a week: There is no way being a week or two behind is ever going to be feasible. That is not "comfortable", that's being left at the mercy of the random Oz scheduling. A month might just about work. Looking at when the show came back in Oz last year, we could be down to six weeks behind for the beginning of the 2026 season. As it stands, we're going to get the premiere in late February, which I think is the earliest it's been in a while.

Are we confirmed for 2nd/5th return?

As you say we will end up dangerously close to aus pace....which could be quite exciting😂

Point of order: ITV never went ahead.  It was RTÉ who went ahead, by one episode.  They had to come off for a couple of weeks to drop back.  I believe they stayed on air during the ITV/Channel 5 switch, but by 2005 they were only a few weeks ahead of the UK

I emailed the Channel 5 Viewer Enquiries Team to ask if there are any plans for classic episodes to be uploaded to My5 since they don’t seem to air older episodes either in summer or winter anymore…

I know they could just be saying this but here’s hoping…

Here’s hoping! :) There are so many episodes I’d love to see again. Oh to see the episode when Alf meets Ailsa again and he has to decide whether to move on with her or go back to the Bay… episode 3445 I think!

Good point James, I hope they do utilise their own archives more so we can enjoy at least a selection of episodes from the last 25 years.

does anyone remember years back (at weekends I think) they would have theme days like weddings/disasters? Can’t remember if there was even 5* back then

Yes, that was round about the time they had that extended repeat run c.2007 and it was on whatever 5* was called at the time.
