CaptainHulk Posted January 19, 2013 Report Posted January 19, 2013 The first Robertson Brothers theme (2000) was okay and fit the sound of the time (Boyband) and the Oceany blue theme was a refreshing change. The Harmony was decent. Wasn't that keen on their second (2004); sounded like they were in a hurry (due to time constraints for theme songs at that point). My rankings of the song 1. 1995 - My fave 2. 1988 3. 2000 4. 2007(b) 5. 2004 6. 2009 7. 2007(a) - The PITS!
-Andrew- Posted January 19, 2013 Report Posted January 19, 2013 I agree, the 2000 version isn't my cup of tea, but I appreciate the feel of the song and it does/did suit the era it's attached to. I'd rank them 1995- Has the most dramatic tone of all the themes, whilst still being a happy song, compliments the show in many ways. 1988- Second only because I prefer the musical style of the 1995 version... 2000- An 'alright' one. 2007(1)- Cool instrumental and a welcome shift back to the more dramatic tone, marmite vocals. 2007(2)- Watered down and generally monotone in every way possible. 2004- The only thing this one has going for it, is that when I'm singing along to it, I feel like the better singer 2009- A really 'stabby' (instrument-wise), poorly mixed version that sounds cut/paste. Duet doesn't automatically = better, obviously.
