James Martin Posted November 27, 2012 Report Posted November 27, 2012 Yep, 2008 was the point we started to get dangerously close. The summer break could sometimes be 7-8 weeks, coupled with breaks for the Sydney, Athens and Beijing Olympics (I believe Seven didn't have the rights to London?) meant we caught up relatively quickly from 13 months behind in 2001. I'm not sure when the show comes back in Oz, but if it's late January as it's been in recent years we SHOULD be 2-3 weeks behind, a month tops, by the time we hit the Season Finale in Feb. Shame we're going to have the 90-minute special hacked up into three half-hour sittings though. Might stack 'em up on the TIVO box and watch them back to back, looking at Louise Bowes' Twitter I don't think it's designed to work split up. Be nice if 5* would broadcast it that way, maybe?
Inactive User Posted December 7, 2012 Report Posted December 7, 2012 Home and Away had finished here in NZ last night after airing Episode 5655
cadyctslover Posted December 17, 2012 Report Posted December 17, 2012 So no classic episodes this break?
Light of the Bay Posted December 18, 2012 Report Posted December 18, 2012 Yeah I tweeted them too and the C5 account said it wasn't planned. I don't understand what the problem is, they could have done something like 'Best of the 90's' or something for a couple of weeks. Shame.
Red Ranger 1 Posted December 18, 2012 Report Posted December 18, 2012 I think the last time we had repeats over the Christmas break was the woefully misconceived 'Best of 2009' run(in...2009), which took a disappointing idea and made it worse by practically ignoring the first half of the year and mostly showing episodes from the past two or three months.I suspect it wasn't very popular and that may have put Channel 5 off the idea since.
cadyctslover Posted December 18, 2012 Report Posted December 18, 2012 Haha, oh yeah I'd forgotten about that, thanks Red. It just seems such a waste when there's plenty of new episodes they could be screening. A 6-week break with no classic episodes, making us really far behind in the new year .
Red Ranger 1 Posted December 19, 2012 Report Posted December 19, 2012 Isn't there only a 3-week break in the UK?(Although I agree, we are ridiculously far behind as it is.)
CaptainHulk Posted December 19, 2012 Report Posted December 19, 2012 This sucks! We need something to break up the usual tosh they slap on at Christmas!
cadyctslover Posted December 19, 2012 Report Posted December 19, 2012 Isn't there only a 3-week break in the UK?(Although I agree, we are ridiculously far behind as it is.) Ah, probably. I guess I mis-remembered it, as we'll probably be 6 weeks behind when it return here?
