Good point. The producers shot themselves in the foot with the River Boys as far as I'm concerned. Last week some of The River Boys scenes (Aus Pace) were genuenly well written Imo, particularly the scene on the beach between Brax and Heath, discussing their emotions and family. It was character driven and engaging. They should have left it at that for the week and allowed other characters storylines to take center stage. But instead they, or their storylines feature in every episode nearly and its overkill, constant screen time as well as the crime based plots have put a dark cloud over the show for me... sometimes the sun shines and I like an episode or a scene here and there, but mostly I dislike what I'm watching.

That is the real problem, that they aren't bad characters, and this year they have been mostly better written for. But they still dominate the show, their storylines always involve crime, and clearly people are getting bored of it.

I tweeted the link of this topic to Louise Bowes and told her it would make interesting reading. She replied to me (which I wasn't expecting) and she thanked me for sending her the link and said it was "very interesting".

I really hope she actually did read it.

Nice one! I don't want to get too down on Louise, she's only doing her job. I have a lot more respect for her taking notice of this forum. I'd like to imagine they do care what we think :) .

I hope that down the line we'll begin to see more balance between light and shade, the Braxtons and everyone else.

The problem is they think everyone on their facebook and twitter pages watch the show for the River Boys because on the facebook page all the posts are about the River Boys, all the likes and all their comments are about the River Boys and they think they are giving the viewers what they want but what they don't realise is that they have 1 million likes on facebook but they dont have 1 million people comenting they only have 12-15 year olds commenting and 12-15 year olds love the River Boys what they have to remind themselves is that 12-15 year olds don't own ratings boxes and they aren't long term viewers.

I have been reading this thread with interest but haven't commented. I suppose I need to put my hand up as both a relatively long term viewer (1992 ) and a River Boy fan before I comment.

I think there is a difficulty with simply "writing off"the 12 -15 year old Facebook and Twitter fans particularly when you assert that they aren't long term viewers. Sure they aren't at the moment, they haven't lived long enough. ( and being young isn't a crime :P ). But will they be in the future? If so then they have to be attracted to the show now.

And by the way I'm not 15 but well over 60.

Your right John plus the only thing that bothers me about the River Boys is that they are overused, all three are good charactes and they are good actors but they've also got other good characters and great actors playing them. Georgie Parker is a Gold Logie winning actress give her a good cry or a breakdown and she can win one next year.
