Sid - Roo - Harvey

What happened to Sid and Roo? I really liked them as a couple for all of about the five minutes they were together.

I thought the attraction between them when he and Marilyn started having problems was great, so it was disappointing for me when Jody/Sasha/Stu's murder prevented them from becoming a real couple.

I still maintain that this pair have great chemistry, and while Roo is with Harvey they should still continue to build on the friendship between her and Sid. However it has almost been completely dropped, and they only interact as part of professional matters such as at the hospital/Diner.

What annoys me most is that although it seems unlikely now, I'm sure at some point in the future they will push Roo and Sid back together. As with Dexter and April currently, where for a while the relationship appeared to have been completely dropped or forgotten about, out of nowhere the attraction resurfaces.

Anyone else miss this couple? I know Harvey is still quite unpopular even with his retroactive back-story.

I can't say I was a massive fan of them but I do think it was a bit of a missed opportunity. The abrupt way they split up does scream someone having to shoehorn Harvey into the ensemble by randomly pairing him up with Roo:The way she suddenly went from realising he'd been playing her to dating him again was absurd and the way they went from having a vitriolic love/hate relationship to acting as though a deep bond had just appeared out of nowhere was even more ridiculous.Sadly, Harvey seems to be another case where the old "There's a reason why he's a jerk and now he's going to get better" idea seems to have morphed into "There's a reason why he's a jerk so nobody minds."

As it stands at the moment, it's hard to see Roo and Sid getting back together but never say never!

I cannot see any chemistry between Roo and Harvey at all. Every time she says 'I love you' I cringe, her body language is not saying the same at all.

The whole back story about Ben's death and Roo not knowing is completely unbelievable. Harvey has lived in Summer Bay for years, presumably the accident happened in or near Summer Bay. Everybody locally would have known about it - even if they didn't know him personally they would have heard about such a tragic occurence. Someone (Alf?, Colleen?) would have mentioned it. Lottie presumably went to school in Summer Bay until she moved away with her mother, now she is back she will be at school with former classmates, are we supposed to believe that none of them remember that her brother died when she was there before. Equally Ben would not have been that much younger than VJ (especially if we give VJ back his true age), Leah would surely have heard about a local boy (who may have been at the same school as VJ) drowning.

Roo and Sid made a much better couple in my view.

I really did like Roo and Sid together. Harvey and Roo doesn't really work for me, mainly because I don't like Harvey. I'm still hoping for a reunion though. Now with Mel on the scene maybe Harvey will be tempted to stray back to his ex wife and daughter leaving a place for Roo and Sid to reunite.

It annoys me that Roo split up with Sid because his ex-wife came back looking for him to sign divorce papers and that meant he was to complicated for her.

Meanwhile Harvey has a harridan of an ex-wife, a secret dead son, a conviction for election fraud and is pretty much bankrupt.

No that to me is complicated.

I agree though that Harvey was introduced as some one who had been in Summer Bay all along and we are meant to believe that no one in town knew about his son's death.

It does seem to me that the writers are just getting lazier and sloppier all the time.

It seems at times like half the writers are trying to explain the discrepancies in Harvey's backstory and the other half are just writing any old thing. There seems to be a fudged explanation somewhere between the lines about Harvey living in Yabbie Creek and only moving to Summer Bay when his business went bust yet we're faced with nonsense plot devices like him and his ex-wife seemingly owning a house together in Summer Bay.

 That's a good point! Although it's completely forced, the retconning has made me feel sorry for Harvey and invest more in his relationship with Roo, which was probably what they were going for. The backstory that they've given him is a bit mismatched with what we know already, but I think fans didn't warm to the character as much as I think the producers were expecting, leading to a re-write.

I can see his contract being extended further than 6 months, and although I have begun to like him more recently, that is probably more to do with Lottie and their interaction, so I wouldn't be happy to hear he was remaining in SB.

Although I wouldn't be able to stand another love-triangle, I would like to see Sid yearning after Roo more than he does currently. He really fell for her, and now the idea has just been completely dropped.
