Old H&A Fan Posted November 24, 2011 Report Posted November 24, 2011 I don't have a problem with Ben either, to be honest I can't see why others do. As in, I don't even understand the dislike. I don't have a problem with Carly either, but I can definitely see why others could dislike her. Even though she usually accepts that she has been selfish and wants to stop, she realistically makes the same mistakes over and over. I just think she is such a well written and consistent character I find it hard to dislike her actions. I just enjoy watching her be irritating and selfish; she can be so flawed but has a good heart and can be equally loving. Ben....hmmm...not the biggest fan.... Carly, well she can be exceptionally selfish at times but she usually relents when she realises how selfish she is, such as the wedding date after Pippa changed her vote.....I think the fact that she kissed Martin (still believing he was dying) shows that she has a big heart deep down....I found it a very touching moment actually!!! She needed Ben's permission to kiss Martin though..... Speaking of which, look at how stupid Ben is I mean has he ever heard of condoms? ANY kind of birth control? That's what you do if you don't want to get Carly pregnant before you marry her!!!!

Some people are brought up to believe sex should be restricted to when a couple are married because it is seen as a symbol of their devotion to each other etc. It is very common for Christians not to have sex before marriage but its also something like my grandparents and parents believe in and they are not religious. Why would you react so negatively and strongly about someone else's decision not to have sex before marriage anyway? I really really don't understand this hatred towards Ben, I just dont see where its coming from.

Bad enough he gets to paint the house while Tom's body is not even cold yet, but to add the revolting behaviour he went about with Carly while doing so, sickens me to the core. What on earth? Then why all this disgusting kissing and crawling all over her and other gross-out scenes while painting the bedroom (which, by the way, is under Tom & "Pippa"'s roof, the same roof shared by the other foster kids besides Carly), does the religious order he is under prohibit the specific act of sex before marrying her, while all the other lewd behaviour is allowed? Perhaps my "hatred" towards Ben has something to do with the fact that he's tall, significantly older than Carly, and got into that ..... "relationship" with her so quickly and easily while Carly rejected all her other (countless) boyfriends, I dunno..... just a wild guess......

Why is it his fault that Carly saw something different in him when compared to the other guys she dated and actually fell for him immediately? Why is it a problem that Carly, who is 19 - is in love and engaged to a young guy (not a old man) of what... 27/28? That isn't a significant age gap at all Imo, plus I don't think age has anything to do with this sort of thing in life. In H&A Fisher and Maz ended up married - did you think that was disgraceful too? He is tall? - One of the reason's you hate and are disgusted in him is because he is tall? This all sounds like you are envious of the man, jealous even. I'm not even sure to take your comments as tongue in cheek, you seem quite genuinely angered by him. In regards to the kissing and 'crawling all over her' - they were both kissing each other and being playful/flirting with each other - i.e showing affection - not having sex all over the room. I'd probably see where the dislike came from if they were always 'at it', especially while the family are down stairs, but they seem so innocent together, I don't see the problem. Especially when you compare it to the likes of Charlie and Brax in the current show!!

It's not like it's all Carly putting her lips around him and Ben is completely innocent in this. You don't "flirt" or "be playful" with just anyone, or even your "friends"? What is the difference between "affection" and "sex"? How is "affection" different to foreplay? Isn't it like getting all happy, playful and excited prior to/leading up to intercourse, even though you're not allowed to have intercourse??! & because of your father and grandfather (not because of the Catholic rule about sex before marriage?)? How does family history fit into it?? :confused: I find it in bad taste that girls tend to go for guys because of their height, I mean judging someone because of their height?? How ridiculous!!!!

This must be episode 534 or 535 (which haven't seen yet)....I thought Ben was a good Catholic boy, you know, no hanky panky before the wedding....so he's changed his tune hey!!! Poor Carly, she's had enough trouble with blokes!!! I recall it was his mate Dave that wanted action with Carly (or anything that moved), not Ben!!!
