Summer Break 2011

Simple question really, are we having one this year? If so, when is it? And will we have any classic episodes on 5*?

Yes we are from the 29th July until September I think

Home and Away will take a five-week break on Channel 5 over the summer, it has been confirmed.

The soap goes on hiatus in the UK after the episode airing on Friday, July 29 and will return to screens on Monday, September 5.

Home and Away's summer breaks have now become a regular occurrence for British fans. The show has to be taken off air here every now and again as it's traditionally off screen for seven weeks in Australia each Christmas, which would mean us catching up if we didn't take breaks of our own.

Neighbours, meanwhile, will not be taking a break on Channel 5 and will run throughout the summer.

Are we significantly behind with Neighbours, then? I remember the BBC used to drop for Christmas and Wimbledon. Surely dropping it on Christmas alone isn't enough?

We are roughly about 6 weeks behind I think.

I thought UK was 4 weeks behind Aussie in Neighbours?

The UK is 4 weeks behind Neighbours, yes.I think Channel 5 tend to only drop it at Christmas, Neighbours tends to have a shorter Christmas break in Australia than HA so we don't catch up as much.There might be a longer break this year though, in the past it's only been two weeks.

4 weeks? Wow. I didnt realise, I thought it was 6. 4 weeks is even better.

I actually thought we were at least two months behind but 4 weeks is really a surprise if I'm honest.

I think it was 6 weeks last year and it's been 4 weeks since the beginning of the 2011 season.
