jldraw Posted December 9, 2010 Report Posted December 9, 2010 I recently came into possession of a ton of H&A clippings. In 2007 an Australian publication (I'm assuming TV WEEK) put together a collector's special entitled "Twenty Years Of Home & Away". One interesting feature was that they asked cast members past and present what mysterious plot holes would they like filled. Some of their responses are spot on, others are quite humorous while still others comment about events that really aren't mysteries at all. I'd figured I'd transcribe the article for those who never had a chance to read it: ============== Sharni Vinson: "How did Peter die and come back to life?" (I'm guessing this plotline hadn't played out at the time of this interview) Tempany Deckert: "Isn't there a law against fostering that many kids? Rebekah Elmaglou: "Where is Summer Bay?" Lynne McGranger: I wonder where Greg Benson got to. His character Matt, went into the kitchen to make a burger and was never seen again." (Was this the cast member that had "nuclear heat" with the rest of the cast causing his character to be written out on the spot without any real explanation?) Lincoln Lewis: "Where does Alf live? You never see Alf's place..." (Ah but we have many different times throughout the series) Jon Sivewright: "Where are Beth's kids? Why doesn't Tony ever call them? I'd also love to know who looks after Leah's son, VJ, most of the time." (I've always wondered about VJ too) Kate Ritchie: "I'd like to know where Dag Dog went. He was our puppy when we first started living in Summer Bay, then all of the sudden he wasn't around anymore and he stopped barking outside." (Dag Dog - another phantom dog to add to the list of unmentioned pet casualties into the history of TV LAND) Kimberley Cooper: "Why is it that everybody in Summer Bay knows Bobby is dead? Just one person I'd like to come back inot the show and ask "Have you guys seen Bobby lately?"
beau_t Posted December 11, 2010 Report Posted December 11, 2010 Kimberley Cooper: "Why is it that everybody in Summer Bay knows Bobby is dead? Just one person I'd like to come back inot the show and ask "Have you guys seen Bobby lately?" OMG I always think this too. And more recently Ailsa. I remember when Marilyn first returned I was hoping there would be a scene of her being told Bobby had died. And when Morag returned in 2001 I was hoping she didn't know about Ailsa and would put her foot in it by saying something horrible about her only to be told she had died.
Ryan Posted December 11, 2010 Report Posted December 11, 2010 The only one I can think of now is Neville's death, where Alf asks Floss "Where's Nev" at Sally's wedding. I guess global communications make this less likely nowadays though. Re Matt: his last scene, towards the end of 1991, is apparently in the diner, goes for a bag of sugar and he then never appeared again until 2002. Not seen his last scene. Rob Storey gets similiar treatment when he comes around to see Travis and is then never seen again. Brodie gets something similiar to a much lesser degree. We know she's leaving etc, but her last scene is just randomly talking to someone on the beach, she doesn't get a goodbye scene in as much as we get to see her leave.
Red Ranger 1 Posted December 12, 2010 Report Posted December 12, 2010 I remember when Kane and Kirsty came back I kept expecting there to be some acknowledgement from them about Beth dying and it never came, she wasn't even mentioned until just before Kirsty left and then only because someone got confused and thought Kirsty and Shelley never made up. You know, I have absolutely no memory of Rob's last scene. For years I thought the last time we saw him was when he was on the wharf with Irene and they were waving off Travis, Curtis and Jack. Then I ended up sat there thinking "Oh, they've taken Rob off the credits, he must be leaving...He still hasn't left...Actually, when did we last see Rob?"
