Together At Last

I woke up the next morning at around 11.30.

“Oh she’s awake” Liam grinned at me.

“How are you feeling?” Chris asked.

“Ugh like I don’t know what planet I’m on” I said.

“Well you’re on planet Earth” Liam responded.

“Oh like ha ha” I said.

“Are you hungry baby? I can make you some eggs” Liam offered.

“Yes please” I said slumping into a chair. “I feel like I have a hangover”

Chris laughed. “You didn’t drink that much last night. It must be jet-lag still” he said.

“Probably” I agreed. “Do you guys have classes today?”

“I have one. In an hour” Chris replied.

“I don’t have any today so I’m all yours” Liam said.

“Perfect” I replied.

“I thought so” he said placing my eggs in front of me.

“Well I better get going to Uni” Chris said. “I’ll see you guys later”

“Bye Chris” I replied.

“Bye mate” Liam said.

“Okay so tell me. Did they talk to you about what I revealed last night when I went to bed?” I asked.

“Yeah we talked Bianca” he said.

“What did they say?” I asked.

“Mum just felt guilty about how she kept asking us if we were going to have kids or not. But everyone thinks you are very brave and strong for having to go through everything that you have been through. And I think that too obviously you know that” Liam said.

“I didn’t mean to make Linda feel guilty” I said.

“She knows that” Liam said. “I can’t even begin to imagine what your life was like at that time. I wish I was in it then… although maybe not cos I would have kicked that guy till he was hurting”

“I know you would have done that babe. Just like when that guy came up to me at the diner and started kissing me, I was thinking about that again but you know this” I said. “I have dealt with way to many things”

“Yeah you have, you really have” Liam said. “And I’m very glad that you have dealt with them cos I think it has helped make you the fabulous wonderful person you are today”

I smiled. “I think that’s true” I said.

“So, what do you want to do today?” He asked.

“Oh I don’t mind. I just want to be with you” I said.

“Good. I do have a gig at Angelo’s this afternoon though” he said.

“Yeah? That’s good. I’m glad you still like playing in small places” I said.

“I kinda prefer it actually. Its more intimate” he said.

I leaned over and kissed him. “What time’s the gig?” I asked.

“6pm” he said.

“So we have a few hours alone in this house” I said.

Liam grinned and led me to the bedroom.

“Do you want to have a late lunch?” Liam asked me a couple of hours later.

“Yeah. Let’s go to the diner” I said.

We walked towards the diner and along the way bumped into Xavier.

“Hi Xav” I greeted him.

“Hi guys” he replied.

“Um, so how are you?” I asked awkwardly.

“I’m okay. Not going to get into any more fights if that’s what your looking for” he said just as awkwardly.

“Good to hear” Liam replied.

“Xav you know I don’t want things to be awkward between us. You were such a good boyfriend to April just cos you guys don’t go out any more doesn’t mean we can’t still be friends” I said.

“Yeah? Good” he said. “I liked spending time with you. Hopefully April and I can get back to being better friends too”

“Good” I said.

“Anyway I’m off to see Romeo so I’ll see you both later” he said.

“Bye” I replied.

“It’s good that you two are going to be friends still” Liam said.

“Yeah. I really like Xav. He was such a nice guy to my sister and I trusted him a lot with her” I said.

“I know you did” Liam said.

“I think he was the best first boyfriend a sister could ask for” I said.

“And what about Dex?” Liam asked.

“I like Dex too. A lot. I guess I have to talk to him soon. Tell him not to hurt her”

“Hey guys” Leah greeted us.

“Hey Leah” Liam replied. “Busy day?”

“Yeah but not as busy as the other day” Leah replied.

“Oh yeah, that was really busy” Liam said.

“When was that?” I asked.

“When I was here with Charlie” Liam said.

“Anyway, how was your trip Bianca?” Leah asked.

“Fantastic” I said.

“That’s good” she said. “You ready for wedding preparations tonight?”

“Yeah I guess. So she’s roped you in as well?” I asked.

“You know Charlie” Leah grinned.

“Unfortunately” I said.

“Oi, unfortunately? Bianca I am so hurt” Charlie said coming up to us.

I smiled. “You know that was a joke” I said.

“Anyway, can I order our meals?” Liam interrupted.

“Oh yeah sorry” Leah said.

“Okay I’ll have pasta and a coke and what do you want baby?” Liam asked.

“And so we both want to wear dresses and I was hoping you can come with me to look at some soon” Charlie said to me.

“Yeah of course I will come with you” I grinned.

“Good. And then we have to pick flowers and music and….” Charlie added.

“Uh Bianca I asked what do you want to order?” Liam said again.

“Oh just order me something” I said distractedly. “What kind of flowers do you like?”

“I have no idea” Charlie said. “I don’t really mind. But I think Joey has an idea”

“Good. Is she coming tonight?” I asked.

“Yes” Charlie answered.

“Well I better go” I said.

“Yeah see you tonight” she said and she went to sit down with Ruby.

I turned to find Liam not there.

“He went to sit outside” Leah said.

“Right” I asked. “What did he order for me?”

“Burger and fries” she said.

“Okay” I said.

“I can change it if you want” she said.

“No that’s fine” I said. “See you tonight”

“Yeah bye” she said.

I walked outside. Liam was on the phone so I sat down opposite him.

“Who was that?” I asked as he finished the call.

“It was Kylie. Just setting up some details. She says hello” Liam replied.

“That’s good” I said.

“Here are your food guys” Indi put the food in front of us.

“Thanks Indi” Liam said.

She turned to walk away.

“Hey wait” I said.

“Something wrong with the food?” she asked turning back to us.

“No it’s fine. How’s Dex doing?” I asked.

“He’s fine. He really likes April and he won’t hurt her if that’s what you want to know” Indi said.

“Okay that’s good but tell him I want to have a talk with him later” I said.

“I’ll pass on the message” Indi grinned.

“Thanks” I replied.

“This pasta is really good today. Do you want some?” Liam asked.

“Yeah sure” I replied.

He put some on his fork and put it in my mouth.

“It is really nice” I said. “So who is coming to Angelo’s?”

“I have no idea” he replied. “You should invite Charlie and Leah”

“Yeah” I said getting out my phone.

“Hello?” Charlie answered on the first ring.

“Hey. Come to Angelo’s tonight?” I asked.

“Leah’s already cooked food” Charlie said.

“Yeah we can eat it afterwards” I said. “Liam’s playing”

“Okay. What time?” she asked.

“6” I said. “Then we can go back to yours and do wedding stuff”

“Okay. See you in a few hours” she said.

“Bye” I grinned.

“So Charlie’s coming?” Liam asked.

“Yes” I answered.

“Good. Someone to keep you company” he said.

“You don’t need to feel guilty all the time babe” I said hearing the guilt in his voice.

“I know but sometimes when I think about what could have happened with that guy. I just don’t want you in that position again” he said.

I got up and sat on his lap. “You are an amazing husband” I said kissing him passionately.

“It’s because I love you” he said.

“I know. I’m so lucky” I said.

“Why’d you stop kissing me?” he asked.

“Good question” I replied and we continued to make out.

I heard a few footsteps approaching us and I really wanted to ignore them.

“Hey you guys” Chris interrupted us.

“Hey mate” Liam said pulling away from me.

“Hi” I grinned at him. “How was class?”

“It was alright” he said. “These are my friends Matt & Brian”

“Hey I’ve seen you guys at Uni” Liam said. “I’m Liam Murphy and this is my wife Bianca”

“Hi, nice to meet you” Brian said.

“Hello” Matt said.

“Hey” I replied. “So what do you guys do?”

“Same as Chris. Business” Matt replied.

“You’re in my class aren’t you?” Liam asked.

“Yeah you sit next to a blonde girl” Brian said. “A really hot blonde girl”

“That’s my friend Indi. And she has a boyfriend so you can forget it” Liam laughed.

“Damn” Brian replied.

“So what are you guys doing tonight?” Liam asked.

“No plans so far” Matt replied.

“Good. I’m playing at Angelo’s in a few hours if you want to come” Liam said.

“Yeah sounds good. I like your music” Brian said.

“Where is Angelo’s?” Matt asked.

“Don’t worry, I’ll take you” Chris said. “It’s not that far from here”

Indi came out to clear our plates.

“You done with those fries Bianca?” she asked me.

“Yeah, ta” I said.

“I think you’re really hot” Brian said to Indi.

“Um. Thanks?” she said awkwardly.

“He’s kidding right man” Chris said. “He’s my friend Brian and this is Matt”

“Oh right, you guys go to Uni yeah?” Indi asked.

“Yeah I’m in your business class” Brian said. “Sorry I didn’t mean to be full on but I do think you’re really beautiful”

“Thanks but I have a boyfriend” Indi said.

“Yeah I know. Liam told me” Brian said.

“Well I’ve got to get back to work. Nice to meet you guys” she said.

“You too” Matt replied.

“I told you mate, Indi’s taken” Liam said.

“I know. Just wanted to see what her reaction would be” Brian said.

“You think Indi’s hot, what do you think of me?” I asked curiously.

“You are hot too” Brian said.

“Hey watch it” Liam warned.

“It’s okay babe” I said rubbing his leg.

“What do you think of me?” Brian asked me.

“You’re pretty cute” I said.

“Oi” Liam protested.

“Oi what?” I said innocently.

Liam’s phone started to ring. “I have to take this” he said. “Watch her” he said to Chris. He kissed me on my forehead and walked away.

“Does he think we’ll do something to you?” Matt asked.

“No he’s just very protective of me. Although there was an incident a few months ago which I’d rather not talk about” I said.

“Fair enough” Brian said. “But we aren’t like that. We treat women with the respect they deserve”

“Good to hear” I said.

“So are any of your girlfriends single?” Brian asked.

“No actually. They all have boyfriends or girlfriends” I replied. “Are you single?”

“Yeah at the moment I am” Brian said.

“And what about you?” I asked.

“No I’m not single. I have a girlfriend” Matt replied.

“Yeah? What’s she like?” I asked.

“She’s great. She’s a Science teacher at the School here” He said.

“Regina Collins?” I asked.

“Yeah, how’d you know?” he asked.

“I’m the language teacher” I replied. “Regina’s sister Joey is dating my best friend Charlie”

“Oh you’re that Bianca. Yeah Regina’s mentioned you a few times actually” Matt said.

“I hope only good things” I said.

“Yeah. She mentioned you were one of her co-workers and that she thought you were really nice and welcoming” he said.

“Oh good” I said.

Liam came back at that moment. “What’s good?” he asked.

“Matt is Regina’s boyfriend” I said.

“Oh. Small world” Liam said.

“Yeah. So what was that call about?” I asked.

“Just Angelo kind of freaking out about tonight. I’m not sure why but he’s stressing. I had to ring Nic and tell her to get herself over there cos it sounded like he needed her” Liam said.

“Poor guy. I hope he’ll be alright” I said.

“Yeah he should be once Nic gets there” He replied. “Anyway we should go home. I need to get my stuff”

“Okay” I agreed.

We walked into Angelo’s an hour later to find the place bustling with people.

“Wow it’s a packed house tonight” Liam said.

“Hmmm and I wonder why?” I asked.

“Why do you think?”

“I think they are all here to see my husband but I think I better go find him cos he doesn’t seem to be here” I replied.

“Bianca just come here” Liam said.

I smiled and leaned into him and we kissed.

“Oh good you’re here” Angelo interrupted us.

“Yeah mate we’re here” Liam said.

“C’mon Liam stop kissing your wife and come set up” Angelo instructed.

Liam grinned. “Guess I’m going” he said as Angelo pulled him away from me.

I laughed. “Bye” I said.

I walked over to the bar and ordered a drink. Charlie walked up to me a few minutes later. She was with Joey, Regina, Matt, Brian and Chris.

“Hi Murphy” she said.

“Hi Buckton” I replied.

“Liam hasn’t started yet obviously” Brian said.

“Not yet” I agreed. “Should be shortly though”

“Shall we sit down?” Joey asked.

“Yeah lets” Charlie agreed.

We walked over to the VIP area and sat down.

“I hear congratulations are in order” Angelo said to Charlie. “You’ve set a date?”

“Yeah we have” Charlie replied.

“Well good. I’m glad” Angelo said.

“Are you going to come?” Charlie asked.

“I don’t know Charlie” Angelo replied.

“Nic is my bridesmaid” Joey said.

“I know” Angelo said. “I’ll see”

“Okay, well just know that I’d like you there” Charlie said.

“Like I said. I’ll see” Angelo said walking away.

Charlie frowned.

“Baby I wouldn’t worry about it. I’m sure Nicole can persuade him to come” Joey said.

“Yeah I guess you’re right” Charlie said.

“I’m always right” Joey replied.

At that moment Liam began his act. The crowd went quite as they listened to him play. I could hear a lot of the conversations with people that hadn’t heard him sing before, they were all saying how amazing he is. I smiled to myself because I am really proud of my husband.

Liam ignored all the looks he was getting from other girls as he walked over to me half an hour later. “Hey beautiful” he greeted me with a kiss.

“Hi handsome” I said. “Everybody loves you, you know that don’t you”

“Yes I know. But I don’t care about them. I only need your love” he replied.

“You have it” I said.

Liam grinned. “I know” he said.

I kissed him.

“I think I want to puke” Brian said.

Chris laughed. “They do that all the time” he said.

“How do you live with that?” Matt asked.

He shrugged. “I’m used to it now” he said. “Besides I wouldn’t have met my boyfriend if it weren’t for Liam”

“When are you seeing Luke again?” Liam asked.

“Later tonight” Chris replied.

“And speaking of later tonight we should leave” Charlie said looking at me.

I grinned. “Alright let’s go get started then” I said.

Charlie, Joey, Regina and I got up. “Are you staying or coming babe?” I asked.

“He can have dinner with us” Brian said.

“Staying” Liam replied. “I’ll see you later baby”

“Alright” I kissed him goodbye. “I want him home in one piece”

“No problem” Matt replied.

“So” I said as we sat down on the couches at Leah’s place. “Where do you want to start?”

Charlie and Joey looked at each other.

“How about the venue?” Leah asked.

“I was thinking Stewart’s Point” Joey said.

Charlie smiled. “That would be perfect” she said.

I wrote that down on a piece of paper. “Have you thought of flowers yet?” I asked.

“I like Iris’s” Charlie said.

“Me too” Joey replied. “I also like Lilly’s”

“Okay” I said jotting them down.

“Have you got a song?” Regina asked.

“Not yet” Charlie said.

“If you want I’m sure Liam would be happy to sing it for you if he can” I said.

“If he can do that I think that would be great” Joey said.

“Yeah” Charlie agreed.

“Okay food’s ready everyone” Leah announced.

“Mmmm” I said. “This is yummo”

“Glad you like it” Leah replied.

“You are a really good cook Leah” Regina complimented.

“Well she should be, its what she does for a living” Charlie said.

“I don’t know what else I’d be if I weren’t a chef” Leah said.

“I don’t know what else I’d be if I weren’t a cop” Charlie replied.

“I can’t imagine being without boats or without being on the water” Joey said dreamily.

Regina and I looked at each other. “Can’t say that I love teaching as much as you guys love your jobs. I mean I do like it a lot but I could live without it” I said.

“Ditto” Regina said.

“Well you can live without it you know, you’ve got money now” Charlie said.

“Yeah but I’d be bored as” I said.

“Hey Rubes” Charlie said greeting her daughter as she walked through.

“Hey Charles” Ruby replied giving her a hug. “How’s everything coming along?”

“Great so far” I replied.

“Yeah?” she asked.

“Yeah we’ve got a venue idea and flowers” I said.

“I can’t imagine planning all that” Ruby said.

“Well I do need your help with planning a hens party” I said.

“Yeah cool. We can get together tomorrow if you want” Ruby said.

“Hey, who said anything about a Hens party?” Charlie asked.

“It’s tradition” I said. “You gotta have one. I’m not taking no for an answer”

“Okay, fine” Charlie agreed.

“And you have to get Nicole to organize yours” I said to Joey.

“We can’t just have one party?” Joey asked.

“I’ll think about it” I said. “Ruby can you call Nic and ask her to come tomorrow?”

“Yeah sure” Ruby agreed.

“Don’t you want us to come?” Charlie asked.

“Hell no” I said. “You two are not coming anywhere near the party planning”

“Yeah Charlie we don’t want you there” Ruby agreed.

I walked in the diner the next day.

“Bianca” Nicole called.

“Hey guys” I said.

“Hey” Ruby grinned.

“So, where are we going to have this party?” Nicole asked.

“I was thinking about Angelo’s” I said. “We could just make it a private party and hire the whole place out”

“Sounds good” Nicole said. “I’ll ask him about it”

“I think that’s a great…” Ruby trailed off.

“Rubes? Earth to Ruby?” I said.

“Sorry what?” she said flustered.

“What were you staring…. OH” Nicole said.

I turned around to see what they were looking at. I saw Dex & Xavier with some boy.

“So, who is that?” I asked curiously as Ruby had turned a light shade of red.

“Casey Braxton” Ruby said.

“Oh he’s meant to be starting School. Gina spoke to me and Miles about him” I said.

“He’s starting School?” Ruby had a dreamy look on her face.

Nicole laughed. “I think Ruby has a crush”

“Looks that way” I agreed.

“Oh you guys as if” Ruby scoffed.

Dex, Xavier and Casey came over to us and sat down.

“Have you guys met Casey?” Xavier asked.

“Not officially” Ruby answered.

“Case this is Ruby Buckton” Xavier said.

“Hi, nice to meet you” Casey smiled at her.

“Nnnii” Ruby coughed. “I mean nice to meet you too”

Nicole and I shared a smile.

“I’m Nicole Franklin” Nicole said.

“Yeah that’s Nic” Xavier said. “And this is Bianca. She’s one of our teachers”

“You guys are sitting with a teacher?” Casey asked.

“Do you have something wrong with that?” I asked.

“No not at all. I’ve just never sat with a teacher outside School before” he said. “It’s nice to meet you”

“Yeah you too and call me Mrs Murphy at School please” I said.

“Bianca is my Mother’s best friend” Ruby explained. “We were planning a hen’s party”

“April can’t wait for the wedding” Dex said.

“And speaking of April mate” Xavier said.

“Hi guys” April joined us. She gave Dex a kiss. “What are you doing here Sis?” she asked me.

“We’re planning the hen’s party” Nicole answered.

“Aren’t I allowed to be here? Am I crashing you’re style, sitting with all your friends like this?” I asked putting my arms around her shoulders.

“No of course not” April said.

“I have to get going anyway” I said.

“Hey you don’t have to leave because of me” April said.

“No don’t worry. I’m meeting Liam for lunch” I said.

“Wait. Do you mean Liam Murphy?” Casey asked.

“Yeah. He’s my husband” I replied.

“I like his music. So does my brother” Casey said.

“That’s good” I said. “Anyway you two we’ll have another meeting later in the week okay, since we haven’t got much done”

“Yeah” Nicole agreed.

“Sounds good” Ruby replied.

“Okay bye everyone” I said.

I got a chorus of goodbyes. I turned to go.

“Hey wait” April said standing up and walking towards me. “Do you really have to meet Liam?”

“Yeah, I wasn’t lying” I said.

“Hey you guys” Indi said walking past us.

“Hey Indi” I replied.

“Hi Indi” April said.

Indi joined the others and sat next to Nicole.

“Hey Bianca, Liam’s outside waiting for you” Romeo said coming up to us.

“Okay thanks” I replied.

He joined the others too and sat down next to Indi. I saw Xavier introduce Casey to Indi and Romeo.

“See?” I said to April.

“Okay I believe you” April said.

“Oh hey its nice to see Dex & Xavier getting along like this” I said.

“Yeah I know” April said.

“Anyway I want to talk to Dex alone for a moment” I said.

April folded her arms. “What about?” she asked.

“Nothing for you to worry about” I said.

“Okay. I know what you’re about to do. Don’t scare him off. I like him a lot” April said.

“I won’t scare him off April. I believe I have a right to say what I’m about to say to him since I am you’re guardian as well as you’re sister” I said.

“I know” April groaned.

“Besides you did the same with Liam. You told him not to hurt me” I added.

“I did that for your own good” she said. “Since you had already been hurt by you know who”

“Yes I’d rather not be reminded about you know who” I said in annoyance. “Anyway I’m going to speak to Dex so you can go back and sit down”

“Okay Sis” she said giving me a hug.

“What was that for?” I asked.

She shrugged. “Sometimes I don’t know what I’d do without you” she said.

“Aw” I said. “I don’t know what I’d do without you either. I love you”

“I love you too Bianca” she said. She smiled and walked back to her seat.

“Dex” I called and gestured for him to come over to me.

“What’s up?” he asked.

“Not much” I said. “I just wanted to talk to you”

“Yeah Indi mentioned” he said nervously.

“Right” I said. “I just want to say don’t hurt my sister. If you hurt her your life won’t be worth living you got it?”

“I got it” Dex gulped. “I won’t hurt her Bianca I promise. I really like her a lot”

“Okay good” I said. “Just remember this little convo”

“Yeah I won’t forget” he said. “You can be scary when you want to be”

“Yes I can” I agreed. “I like you Dex. I hope it stays that way”

“Me too” he said.
