“How was your trip Bianca?” Linda asked as we were all seated down at dinner at Angelo’s.

“Fantastic” I replied.

I was sitting next to Chris and Liam. Chris was next to Luke and Lucy and Cameron were sitting together as was Linda and Larry.

“So this is a first” Larry started.

“What’s a first dad?” Luke asked.

“Everyone of my kids has a partner at a family dinner” Larry replied.

“Yeah I guess that is a first” Lucy agreed.

“Families do get bigger sometimes” I said.

Linda looked at me. “Are you pregnant Bianca?” she asked hopefully.

Liam groaned. “Mum I told you you’re not getting grandkids from us okay? We don’t like kids”

“I’m not pregnant Linda. I’m not going to get pregnant. I’m sorry but I don’t want kids” I said.

“Alright, I was just asking” Linda said.

“Well please stop asking” Liam said.

“Maybe you should get a pet. Might help you re-consider” Linda added.

I sighed. “I’m not going to re-consider. I know you want grandkids but you’re going to have to focus on Luke and Lucy for that” I said.

“Help me understand then. Why don’t you want kids?” Linda asked.

“Mum I just want Bianca to myself. I don’t want to share her and right now with my music I don’t think I’d be able to look after a kid anyway. All I want is Bianca and that’s all” Liam said.

“And I don’t want to be a mother, I know I wouldn’t be a very good mother. I mean look at my mother and all that crap that happened. I don’t want to put anyone through anything like that cos that was hell. Plus I already have April and she’s enough to deal with at the moment” I added. “Oh good never in my life have I been so excited to see Pizza”

“Here are you’re Pizza’s” Angelo said putting them on the table.

“You know you’ve got lipstick on your cheek” I said to him. He wiped it off hurriedly.

“Nicole” he scolded walking over to her.

I giggled to myself as I grabbed a slice.

“I think you would be a good mother” Lucy said.

I gave her a look.

“Well I do” she said defensively.

“I guess you are entitled to your opinion” I said testily.

“This is really nice Pizza” Chris changed the subject hurriedly.

“Yes it is” Larry agreed.

I looked at Liam thinking that maybe I should just tell them the truth. It was probably a good time to tell it. He gave me a quick kiss and I knew he agreed with me.

“The truth is I can’t have kids” I said. “I don’t really want them anyway but I physically can’t have them”

“Oh Bianca. I’m sorry” Linda said.

I shrugged. “It’s okay”

“How come you can’t have them?” Lucy asked nervously.

“When I was 16 I was date raped. A few weeks later I found out that I was pregnant but I was hurting too much and really freaked out so I decided to have an abortion and that basically ended things right there” I said. “But I’ve dealt with that and have moved on from it. I’m sorry I’ve kept this from you but there is never a good time to talk about something like this and I didn’t want any pity”

There was silence at the table.

I looked around at everyone’s faces. “Yeah this is why I wanted to change the subject” I said. “Please can you not think differently of me”

“No we don’t think differently of you darling” Linda said. “I think that you are a very brave woman from all the things that life has thrown at you, you’ve come out of it all a very confident and happy person”

“Thanks” I said as she gave me a hug. “Only a few people know this. Charlie and Leah I’ve told and that’s about all….. aside from Liam, April and Alf and Irene. It’s not a thing to broadcast”

“Does your mother know about it?” Linda asked.

“Yeah she knows” I said.

“What happened to the guy that did it?” Luke asked.

“Well I found out that it wasn’t just me he did it too. It was a few other girls from my School and we all got together and told a teacher about it and the teacher I’m not sure what she did exactly but I know the police were involved and last I heard he was in jail” I answered.

“Wow” Lucy said.

“What?” I asked.

“No. I’m just trying to picture it. I don’t know what I would do in that situation. I’m so glad now that you are happy cos you do deserve it” Lucy replied.

I smiled. “I wasn’t lying when I said that I’ve never been this happy before” I said.

Liam pulled me closer to him and kissed me.

“Are you paying me back for earlier?” I asked.

“Yup” he grinned.

“Your so bad” I replied.

“I think we should get dessert” Liam said pulling a hair out of my face.

“Good idea” Cameron said.

I grinned. “I want Chocolate Mousse” I said happy to be back to a lighter conversation.

“Of course you do” Liam replied.

“Angelo” I called out and gestured for him to come over.

“Everything good here?” Angelo asked.

“Yes I’d like a Chocolate Mousse please” I said.

Everyone else ordered desserts.

Angelo came back a minute later. “Um Bianca, we’re out of Chocolate Mousse” he said nervously.

“Tell me you’re joking” I said.

Liam laughed. “Yeah please tell me that’s a lie cos she’ll be mad later that she didn’t get her Chocolate Mousse”

“Sorry, I wish I was kidding. I can give you a crème brule on the house” he said knowing that is another desert I like.

“Okay” I replied.

Angelo walked away.

Liam looked at me surprised. “Okay? Really? You’re not going to put up a fuss”

“I only did that once” I said defending myself.

“She must be tired” Luke commented.

I grinned. “Okay yeah so I like Chocolate Mousse so sue me. But that’s alright Crème Brule is nice too”

“Crème brule is the best desert” Lucy said.

“You should make a note of that Cameron” Liam said. “You know for future reference”

“Noted” Cameron smiled.

I yawned suddenly.

“After desert I better get you home” Liam said.

“I’m alright” I said.

“You look exhausted baby”

“I guess I am a bit” I replied resting my head on his shoulder.

“Well that’s understandable. You had a long flight” Linda said.

“Yeah I did but I watched a few movies and shows which passed the time” I said.

“So did you just stay in Italy?” Lucy asked.

“Yeah mainly just Rome. We did go to Venice and Pisa though” I said. I decided to put Lucy on the spot. “So Cameron. What are your intentions with my sister?” I asked.

“My intentions?” He repeated.

“Yeah. You know are you going to marry her, have babies, grow old together. Cos you know that after a month of dating you’re usually at a spot where you get pretty serious” I carried on.

Cameron didn’t say anything.

“Yeah are you going to put a ring on my sister’s finger?” Luke asked.

“If you are you should make it at big one. Lucy likes diamonds” Liam said.

“Uh, um” Cameron stammered.

“Is that all you have to say? You know Lucy is a great girl. I don’t know why you wouldn’t want to marry her” I said.

Cameron turned red.

“Okay you guys. Cam they are just teasing you. Ignore them. They can be horrible sometimes. Especially Bianca you need to watch out for her” Lucy grinned.

We laughed and so did Cameron.

“Good. For a second there I thought you were all serious” Cameron said. “But I do really care about Lucy and I’m not going to hurt her”

“That’s good” I said. “And I’m sorry but I couldn’t resist playing with you”

“That’s okay” Cameron said.

“Oh good Charlie’s here” I said as I spotted her walking in. “Oi Buckton” I called. I climbed excitedly over Liam and Luke to get out.

Charlie walked over and hugged me. “I am so glad you are back” she said dramatically.

“Yeah? Everything okay?” I asked curiously.

“Yeah everything is perfect” Charlie said.

“Why?” I asked. “What are you not telling me?”

“We have set a date for the wedding” She said excitedly.

“OMG. When is it?” I asked.

“October 21st” she said. “Not too hot and not too cold”

“Good. That’s in 3 months though. Is that enough time?” I asked.

“Yeah, it just means you’ve got a lot of work to do quickly” Charlie grinned.

I laughed. “Yeah okay I know I got a lot to do. Just give me a day to get over my jet-lag alright?”

“Oh I dunno if you can have a day” she teased.

“Buckton honestly. Alright. We can have dinner tomorrow night then” I offered.

“I’ll get Leah to cook us something” she said.

“Sounds good” I said.

“Yeah anyway I’ve got to pick up my pizza for me and Ruby” Charlie said.

“No Joey?” I asked.

“No. She’s spending time with Regina” Charlie answered. “Regina’s been complaining that they don’t see each other a lot and I think that’s my fault”

“Oh I have experience in that area” I said.

“I’m sure you do” Charlie grinned.

“Anyway have a good night. See you tomorrow” I said.

“Yeah you too” Charlie replied.

“You need to keep October 21st free babe” I said as I sat back down.

“Charlie’s wedding?” Liam guessed.

“Yes” I said. “That’s about 3 months. There is so much to do” I said.

“You’ll get it all done” Liam said confidently.

“3 months is not very long to plan a wedding you know” I said.

“I seem to remember it taking not heaps long to plan ours Bianca” Liam said.

“That’s because I knew exactly how I wanted it” I said. “I have no idea how Charlie & Joey want there’s”

“Well I guess you’re going to have to speak to them” Liam said.

“Nah, really?” I said sarcastically.

“So bro when is the last concert?” Luke asked.

“Yes I’d like to know that too” I said.

Liam grinned. “Well it is on Friday night” he said.

“This Friday?” Lucy asked.

“Yes and everyone is invited” Liam answered.

“Finally I get to come and see you” Linda said.

“Yeah sorry mum I know you’ve been wanting to see me but I could only give out a certain amount of tickets but I have a lot to give out this time, practically everyone that I know is invited” Liam said.

“I’m excited to see you play son” Larry said.

“I know Dad. I can’t wait for you to hear me” Liam said.

“He is amazing” I said.

“Yeah but you’re just a bit biased Bianca” Linda said.

“Yeah but I’d still say that even if I wasn’t biased” I said.

After desert we went back to our house. We had all been talking on the couches for quite awhile. It was almost 2am. I had been up for over 12 hours and I was beat.

“Babe” I interrupted the conversation unable to keep my eyes open for any longer.

“Yeah, what’s wrong?” Liam asked.

“Nothing. But can you run me a bath please?” I asked styfling a yawn.

“Of course baby you should have said something earlier” he said giving me a kiss.

“Bianca we didn’t mean to keep you up” Lucy said.

I shrugged. “It’s okay. I love hanging out with you guys” I said.

“See Cameron this is how you win brownie points” Larry said.

I laughed.

“I’ll remember that” Cameron smiled.

“It’s run baby” Liam came back out. “Do you need help?”

“No I’m good” I said giving him a kiss.

“Okay” Liam said sitting back down on the couch.

I sat in the bath for at least 15 minutes. I put on my pajamas and walked back out.

“I’ve come to say goodnight” I said.

Linda got up and hugged me. “Goodnight sweetheart” she said.

“Goodnight everyone” I said. “It was nice to meet you Cameron. Hope to see you again”

“Yeah ditto” he said.

I started to walk to my room.

“I’ll be right back” Liam said. Liam massaged my shoulders as we walked to our room.

I climbed onto the bed.

“I’m really proud of you tonight” He said.

“Yeah? I probably should have told them that ages ago so we didn’t have to lie to them” I said.

“No it’s okay. I understand that you wanted to tell when the time felt right” he said.

“I love you so much” I said.

“I know” Liam said. “I love you so much too” he gave me a kiss.

I smiled. “Goodnight babe” I said lying down.

“Night baby. I won’t be that long probably” he said.

Woah!I thought Bianca was just being insecure about not being a good mother to start with but when I heard the story that was a huge shock.Looking forward to more of this.

Wow. The back story behind Bianca & not wanting to have children (as well as not being able to) was written beautifully. A bit of a shock though.

Perfectly written & a fantastic portrayal of characters as always.
