j.laur5 Posted November 8, 2010 Report Posted November 8, 2010 Yes out of all the write outs I'd say killing Bobby off was probably the most disappointing, only becuase we all would have loved for her to remain in the show forever and that put an end to any chance of her returning. However in terms of the character and where she was at, it may have been implausible to believe she would decide to leave Summer Bay (forever) and there's nothing to say Nichole Dickson would have wanted to return (as it was her choice to go and at the time felt she'd been there long enough) so in that sense it would have been very frustrating to know Bobby was out and about and hadn't ever come 'home'. I would have LOVED to have seen Bobby evolve throughout the rest of the 90's and into the 2000's and I'm sure the writers would have treated the character with respect as they did Sally, and keep her very human and character driven. She's one of, without a doubt, the best characters the show's ever had. I would have loved to have seen Bobby Vs Angie.
Red Ranger 1 Posted November 8, 2010 Report Posted November 8, 2010 I think there's a fair chance Nicholle would have returned at some point. As Jeremai says, she did return once despite being dead.I seem to remember reading that in 2000, when they brought back Pippa, Carly, Steven, Frank, Lance, Martin and Floss(and, somewhat incongruously, Jack), Nicholle dropped by the set to spend time with them all so I think Bobby would probably have come back then if it had been possible. But hindsight's 20/20 and at the time killing her off probably seemed the best option. It would be nice if Morag mentioned her on the show these days to let us know what she thinks about what happened back then;there was a moment last year where she almost, sort of mentioned her but it didn't really go anywhere.I get the feeling that in 1989 she'd have wanted a daughter if it hadn't been Bobby, if that makes sense. Now that she's mellowed she'd probably think differently about her.
matty Posted November 10, 2010 Report Posted November 10, 2010 I find it funny how Bobby is best mates with Ailsa, and is good mates with Alf and Celia, yet hates her mother.
beau_t Posted November 10, 2010 Report Posted November 10, 2010 Ailsa, Alf and (to a lesser extent) Celia have always been good to Bobby whereas Morag has been and continues to be evil to her and is responsible for her having an awful childhood. So of course she hates her.

So of course she hates her. Yeah true, it's just ironic that the Stewart to whom she is closest is the only one not related. I actually think that she is closer to Celia than Alf. Yeah they've butted heads before, but you can tell that they do really like each other.

Yeah, I would like that too. All that she said was that she had an illegitimate child - then nothing else about Bobby. She did attend her funeral though, and thanked Pippa for helping Bobby, and was upset.
Ryan Posted November 12, 2010 Report Posted November 12, 2010 I think that's a case, perhaps, as Sally sang a few years later "You don't know what you've got, until it's gone." It could be feasible had Bobby lived that they still hated each other.

I also think that most of the hate came from Bobby's side, but rightly so.

I think the 1993 Morag would still have hated Bobby if she'd been alive, her tears when Greg told her what Bobby thought of her seemed to come from the same place as thye ones at Bobby's wedding: an acknowledgement of what might have been whilst knowing deep down it wouldn't really have been possible.I think the 2004/2005 onwards Morag, who accepted Ric and Martha into the family without much difficulty and more or less tolerated Colleen, would probably get on with her.

I don't know anything from now up until around 1995. I agree that Morag would definitely accept Bobby were she around now, but I assumed watching Bobby's funeral online, that Morag must have felt some degree of love for Bobby, because she wouldn't have attended the funeral, and she wouldn't have been visibly upset. Didn't she try to take Sam after Bobby died too? That indicates that she was probably trying to compensate.
