j.laur5 Posted December 22, 2010 Report Posted December 22, 2010 Stacey is carrying on a bit isn't she? It's as though he was the be-all and end-all of her life, no wonder I despised her and Phillips (ahem) ..... "relationship" "Pippa" is a bit over the top too. Let's be honest, as good a character as she is, and as nice as she is, as an actor she's not that flash, especially when she tries to get emotional. I think you are being a little bit hard because Phil was a likeable person so obviously people are going to be upset, and Stacey loves Phillip. I think Vanessa was being very realistic in those scenes. She wanted to be strong for Steve and Stacey and was upset sometimes. I much perfer Vanessa's Pippa. She gave Pippa more personality and Debra didn't bring to much personality, other than being 'mummsy'. Why don't you like Phil?
Lulu1978 Posted December 22, 2010 Report Posted December 22, 2010 You've got to be joking, Vanessa is miles better than the other one. I have always preferred Vanessa in the role too.I know most people think of Debra as the real Pippa now,but I like the original best.
drown Posted December 22, 2010 Report Posted December 22, 2010 And Speaking of 296 what an ending that was-Talk about alienating your father in law, Frank-Even if he is Fisher.
QUIET ACHIEVER Posted December 22, 2010 Report Posted December 22, 2010 My favourite two moments were: When Bobby called Fisher "Dad" - that was a heart warming scene and when Stacey and Steven hugged - the scene spoke volumes.
Old H&A Fan Posted December 22, 2010 Report Posted December 22, 2010 I can understand Bobby calling Mr Fisher "dad" but what's so significant about Stevo and Stacey cuddling up together?? There isn't — and will never be — any (ahem) "romance" between those 2 if that's what you mean?
alexx Posted December 23, 2010 Report Posted December 23, 2010 ^The last episode I was able to watch was 288 so until I am able to get hold of the rest of them I cant fully add my opinion but I think I remember that scene between Stephen and Stacey (was it in the bedroom?) - I presume what QUIET ACHIEVER is talking about is the poignancy that both characters had lost someone they loved and the scene was just a simple moment of characters sharing their grief - I also enjoy those touches, they really make what the show is in the early years, characters being there for each other without a romantic undertone.
matty Posted December 23, 2010 Report Posted December 23, 2010 I like Vanessa better as Pippa too. She is motherly and hip, Debra Lawrence is only really motherly. Btw, why has there been no funeral for Phil? It's rather odd.

I heard that in real life he was gay though, not sure if it's true or not.
Ryan Posted December 23, 2010 Report Posted December 23, 2010 Nearly got splatted by a train once - I remember reading that in one of the annuals the show produced in it's early years.
