^I'm not sure if that's true. For a start, Joey outlasted the rest of the teen group by so long that he actually commented to Hayley shortly before he left that there was no-one around anymore for him to say goodbye to.(He left 18 months after Casey and nearly two years after Liam.)Aaron was clearly brought in as a replacement for Liam so they didn't give up on that age group completely and when Casey left they started mixing up those that were left with slightly younger characters like Tiegan, Justine and Tom.

Every good Teen Gang usually has a mix of Yr11/Yr12.

Belinda Jarrett was axed because of her bad behaviour on set.

Richard Norton who played Simon was axed. He didn't wanna leave himself.

Info from old Inside Soap mags.

That's interesting about Belinda. I wonder what kind of behaviour got her axed. Seems she could have turned into the bitch Karen became, but it couldn't have been that bad if she was asked back 2 years later.

According to Belinda herself she was "a b**** " and the producers told her that she'd never work again. "I was obnoxious. I used to refuse to kissing scenes and stuff", Belinda said herself. She also argued a lot with the actor who played Revhead. It also took her a year to like her on screen brother Les Hill. "I really resented him." After a year she thought he was cool.

When the producers asked her back she was very surprised.

Info from an interview with Belinda from Inside Soap.

I wonder if that unpleasent expierence put her off acting. It's ironic that she disliked people she was closest with on screen. Thanks for telling.

Often people portraying Siblings or Couples either get on really well or plain can't stand each other.

I don't think Amy Mizzi was axed, I believe she was put on a Uni contract whilst she was at Uni, so that she was guaranteed some work during holidays but was able to study during term times, hence why she appeared once a year at the same time of year for a few years.

I think people are right to mention Roger Oakley, as I'm pretty sure Vanessa Downing left in protest at the way it was done, but even then I think they decided to get rid of a major character to increase ratings and just happened to pick Tom, I don't think they specifically axed Roger for any reason.

I'm not a regular viewer these days so forgive me if I have his character name wrong, but didn't the actor who played Sid (dark haired guy) get axed for being outspoken and negative about the soap, possibly via social networking?

One other that came to mind was that not long after Tasha first arrived there was a big sing song about a new senior police officer who was female and I think had an Italian name which escapes me, had all the hallmarks of being the introduction of a new major character then disappeared without trace a few later having merely told Tasha to tell the 'other girl' not to streak anymore and then done basically nothing else. Makes me think they axed that actress for some reason.

I don't think SImon Kay (Alan Fisher) was axed as such, because I'm watching on youtube at the moment the episodes around his arrival and he had a potentially terminal condition spelt out in the storyline from his second appearance, so either they they were uneasy about the actor from the start and put in an instant termination possibility from the off in order to have a 'get out of jail free' card should they wish to axe him, or far more likely he was always intended to be a short term character without the ability to return.

One last one is that I have this memory of a kooky blonde girl briefly moving in Noah and Hayley in the house that had manikins in it and thinking at the time she'd be a great new character, only for her to disappear again so soon after that the only thing I can remember about her is that she arrived in the first place and moved in with Hayley and Noah. So maybe that actress fell foul of the powers that be very soon after her debut?

Apologies if I've got things wrong here or misremembered things, I had been a recovering Home and Away for a few years now, as the current show no longer interests me or gets me addicted, but since finding the early years episodes on youtube I have well and truly fallen off the wagon as far as H&A is concerned, and am now having to refresh my memory about H&A.

You're thinking of Pia Corelli, a precursor to Fitzy and Watson who was Summer Bay's main police officer after Mike Carter left.

Thats right, she had a brief fling with Jesse.

The girl that moved in with Hayley and Noah was called Aimee Cooper I think. There is a character breakdown of her on this site.

An executive up high did indeed tell the writers to axe Kit, making some disgraceful comments about Amy in the process - but the audience's warm reaction to the character led to her being written back in.

In some ways I miss those short lived main characters. Before her returns etc. I enjoyed Kit's story arc. It was slightly cliched, but it was a good story.Someone who is a main charater for 150-200 episodes. Nowadays, everyone does 3 years and they can meander around pointlessly.

I warmed to Kit because of the way Amy Mizzi looked. She was a natural beauty but she just looked like the average teenager and that was great considering at the time most of the others looked like models. Didn't they say that she would never make it onto a TV mag because she wasn't pretty enough... and then was featured a few times on the cover in 2007 before she left for good?

Though I hated what they turned Kit into she still remains my favourite female character. Although I have been noticing this year that they are slowly moving away from casting model-like females. Most of the young cast this year do look like individuals which is always nice to see.

Grrr, stupid idiots for axing Amy Mizzi though.

Yup that's right, though the exec worded it rather differently. They also said nobody would ever believe in Kit and Noah.

More fool them....

Honestly, some people are just dumb. All that hard work to build up Noah and Kit, then some jobsworth decides there's no way Kit could compete with Hayley and expects us to believe Noah's still in love with a girl he's shown no interest in for the past year.At least they did rescue her with the return appearances and I was actually pretty pleased with her final exit, it may not have been an ideal situation but she got a happy ending and it was perhaps important for someone who didn't have the conventional appearance to be portrayed as attracting the good-looking guys.
