Pierced Musie Posted August 18, 2013 Report Posted August 18, 2013 I'm beginning to think now... was Beau Brady axed aswell? Because I am assuming that when Amy was axed then some rewrites were done to bring back Noah/Hayley, only for Noah to end up dead. I remember certain speculation that he was axed with the flimsy excuse that there was nothing more for the character but that was never confirmed, right?
TelephotoMarigold Posted August 18, 2013 Report Posted August 18, 2013 Oh yeah, the old 'nothing more for the character' excuse... I'm still fuming over the axing of my favourite character because of that reasoning.....
Pierced Musie Posted August 18, 2013 Report Posted August 18, 2013 ... Roman, right? Yeah, that one was a moment of stupidity but it joins the long list by the looks of things. And while we are on the subject of could-be axed I have another I would like to find out about. Was Mitch Firth axed back in 2004 or was it his choice to leave? Also it would be interesting to see how many characters/casthave been axed because of story rewrites and other cast being axed before them. A bit like the Noah situation.

~Lynd~ Posted August 19, 2013 Report Posted August 19, 2013 Wow.I innocently enter a thread and leave with all my Noah and Kit feeling dredged up.I don't think I'll ever be over it so thanks lol. I'm pretty sure Beau Brady was axed which never made sense to me.They could have done a lot more with his character including having Hayley die and Kit slowly help him through it. Yes my shipper heart is biased. What of it?
j.laur5 Posted August 20, 2013 Report Posted August 20, 2013 So Noah was really axed?. They could have made another mainstay character in Noah!
Pierced Musie Posted August 21, 2013 Report Posted August 21, 2013 I'm not sure how long Noah would have lasted if he had stayed alive but I get the feeling that Beau Brady would have happily kept coming back to the show. Perhaps that is what is needed on this show... more characters like Morag. Characters who are missed when gone but cherished when they return. Which reminds me of another two characters I'm curious about, this time from 2005. Were Laurie Foell and Ben Unwin axed? Or was one axed and the other chose to leave? Though 2005 had many bad moments it was the way they butchered the characters of Josie and Jesse that I found horrible to watch. Considering they had actually built the pairing up to be something special it didn't take long for them to rip it to shreds. And then they completely assassinated both characters by having Jesse accidently kill Chloe (another WTF!) and completely give Josie a personality transplant. So... doesn't anyone know if the crappy ending to both characters was always on the cards or were they wrecked because they were axed/decided to leave?
Red Ranger 1 Posted August 21, 2013 Report Posted August 21, 2013 I have heard rumours that Laurie Foell was forced out of the show after falling out with some of the other cast members, I'm not sure if that's true but I remember some people speculating that Josie's ending, with her admitting she doesn't want to go but doesn't feel like she can stay in town where everyone keeps turning on her, wasn't too far off the situation in real life.

Hmm...interesting. I wonder if that's true or not. I know that 2005 received a lot of criticism, but I personally loved the year. I was really disappointed with the way Jesse was written out especially. He deserved a better ending in my opinion. I've always believed that Jesse could easily return to the Bay and try to fix his life again despite already attempting to the first time back in 2002. I can't imagine Alf or Irene being impressed with his return, whereas I feel that Leah would be more sympathetic of him along with Sally and Marilyn.
Light of the Bay Posted August 21, 2013 Report Posted August 21, 2013 I hope we do see him again one day- there's still a chance for the character to be redeemed. I definitely think 2005 was nowhere near as good as 2004, but it was a little exciting since it was so different to other years. But, looking back, you see that they began not really focusing on characters and chose to churn out stalker plots all the time with no real aftermath. And it became repetitive to the point where crime and misery in Summer Bay is no longer exciting.
